I would like to know more about the lineage of Richard Hall Hudson and wife Harriet Freeman Manley. I have her obit and the death of Richard is 1837 but don't know where he is buried but she is in the Old Paris Cemetery. There were 2 children but I only have the name of the son Judge I. M. Hudson with no other details. The Manleys were from Anson Co. NC and then Stewart before coming to Henry County with the Methodist movement. Rev. Hall was suppose to have been with the TN Methodist Conference. Even though Henry county is now a part of the Memphis Conference, I would suggest that at that time it might have been the TN Conference. There are archives for the Memphis conference at the Lambuth University in Jackson TN and I have been successful on some of my lines in getting facts on ministers from there. I am not sure of this but think the TN Conference has Archives at a church in downtown Nashville. (can't think of the name) I would certainly check out Stewart County also. This is not my line but is a related line to my Atkins line so I have researched the Manley line. This obit was in my grandmother's papers and I almost never found out what the connection was. Know this is no help but some times questions also open doors. Thanks, Joy Bland Richard Hudson wrote: >I would like to find out more information about this (Benton and Henry >County Hudsons are related) as I haven't been able to determined where my g. >g. grandfather (Richard Hall Hudson) originated from when he first appeared >as a methodist minister in Henry County in 1832. I don't have any info. about Richard Hudson or Harriet Manley, sorry. But I do have some related info. My grt.grt. grduncle (I think) was Samuel Gilliland He was pastor in Paris TN. In 1834, according to this article, he purchased land in the city of Paris as a site for a building. The trustees were Samuel Hankins, Hugh Dunlap, Sterling Orgain and William Hagan. I copied the page in a photocopying spree at the Mid-cont. public lib. in Kansas City, MO. I can send you a copy. Please contact me directly.
