The Sarah Toombs I am looking for was a 'Culpepper' before she married John Willis Toombs Jr. and would have been born in a much later year. I wish you good luck in your search as i have hit a stone wall on John Willis Toombs Jr.

He was James Newton Cox, b. TN on 28 Nov 1851; d. Floresville, Wilson, TX on 01 May 1929. Married (abt 1876, in Fannin, TX) to Louisa Mildred Thomason, b. 1848 in AR; four children, all sons (my grand-dad was their 3rd child). On James Newton's DC, it is indicated that his (James N.'s) father was "George Cox, b. TN." The Informant on the DC was Berry A. Cox, James & Lou M. Cox's eldest son. Assuming that he (George) was between 20 and 40 when James was born, with a few years either way, I am seeking a George Cox family somewhere in Tennessee, with the head of household born (approximately) between 1810 and 1830, in Tennessee. It's a big state, and I presently have no idea exactly where this family would be during this time period (a search of the appropriate Censuses has not yet turned up such a family), but many of the Thomasons at this time were from West Tennessee -- Henry and Carroll counties, mostly -- so I tend to "favor" that grand division of the state as the most likely place for the George Cox family around the time that James Newton was born (1851). Appreciate any leads, and best regards, Steve Cox Knoxville, TN

My wife is a descendant through his son, Henry Allen. He had a daughter name Bertha and that's my wife's grandmother. They are from Henry County and Weakley County TN. In the 1850 census Moses was living next door to Lemuel Myrick. Moses age was 28 and Lemuel was 65. Lemuel could be his father, but I have no proof. Lemuel died intestate. I got the probate records and Moses appears about 5 times purchasing items. I am helping my wife gain membership in the DAR. Thanks Bill

Laura, Henry County Will books, 8+ would be great! Also continuing the deed books for Henry County. And exploring your catalog, I find several items I will need to add to my collection. You and Sherry do a great job. Cheers, Mary Laura Willis wrote: > Mary Louise, > Thanks for the advertising. I will probably have Henry County wills up to 1863 done within two or three weeks. I would love to see more probate records and newspaper abstracts available, for me specifically Henry and Carroll counties of TN. Thank you for transcribing these records! Your work is invaluable for people who cannot get to the archives, and even for those who do make it there occasionally, the film readers (at the TN archives) are of such poor quality, that it seems so very little can be accomplished with each trip. Thank you for all of your efforts in making this data available!
