Both William and Augusta were living in Henry County in the 1910-1930 censuses but I have no information about when they died. I was hoping that a death record would give the names of William T. Hi, Myrlene. This would be before my Lemuel was in Weakley County, and she would have been older than him. However, there is a Lemuel Simmons in Currituck Co, NC, who dies around 1799; his wife was Susanna. There are several documents referenced at the web site below, but none names any children except Thomas that I can find. The site: www.rootsweb.com/~nccurrit/index.html Put the surname or a whole in the search box (use quotes for a whole name: "lemuel simmons"). Sorry I can't help. The name Lemuel D. Simmons caught my interest. We have hit a brick wall on our gggrandmother, Allena(Helena, Galena, Alena) Simmons. Census shows she was b. 1796 in N.C. She married Miles Jackson b. 1799 Va. They were in Henry co. Tn. in the 1820's and came to Izard Co.Ar. before 1840. One son was named Lemuel DeBerry Jackson b. 13 July 1829 Tn. The name Lemuel was carried down through future generations. Does anyone connect or recoganize this family?? Would appreciate any help. What I posted in 1999 (below) needs some modification (IN CAPS BELOW)based on recent research: Robert Sharp Givens Married Susie Catherine Pewett (PEWITT not PEWETT) Jan 6, 1852 in Williamson Co, Tenn. Their oldest daughter, Harriet ("Hattie") Henry Givens married my great grandfather William Cook Cooper Nov 28, 1880 in Henry Co, Tenn. She (Harriet Givens) said that her grandfather was "a full blooded Irishman" who had Immigrated to (FROM) Maryland then moved and settled in Williamson Co, Tenn. (I NOW KNOW HER GRANDFATHER, ROBERT SHARP GIVENS' FATHER WAS EPHRAIM GIVENS) Robert and Susie Pewett Givens' Children's names as I know them: 1. Harriet Henry, "Hattie" b. 3-5-1861 My great grandmother 2. Polly Ann, b (1855 - MARRIERD JAMES PRITCHETT)??, According to my great aunt she married a "Pritchett." On the Tenn Marr records 1850-1900 There is a marriage recorded: Polly A. Givens and James W. Pritchett in Henry Co but the date is 1872. Her older sister, Harriet would have only been 11 then so, unless the 1872 date was mis-copied (1892?), it couldn't be her.(POLLY WAS OLDER) 3. Myra Elizabeth no dates; (AUG 13, 1865) was never married 4. Laura Bell b (1868)?? Married James A. Scoby 2-26-1891 Henry Co. 5. Fronie no dates; (MARCH 13, 1871) never married 6. Delia no dates; (MAR 1876)According to my great aunt she married a Ramsey 7. Joe Cephus no dates (DEC 20, 1852) 8. William Ephraim no dates (MAR 17, 1858) William Cook Cooper was born Feb 9, 1851 in Duck River, Tenn near Columbia. (ACTUALLY, HE WAS BORN IN HENRY COUNTY, TN) His parents were Blunt Cooper and Adeline Patent. Family mythology says they came from North Carolina but I'm not sure.

Hi Joan, I am so glad to have been able to help you and that you were able to find a readable tombstone from so long ago. That is pretty impressive. You have made my day. Peggy M. T.
Peggy, I just wanted to let you know that the wheat finally got harvested, and we did indeed find Brizenidine Cemetery...Surprisingly enough, the tombstone of the person I was searching for was still very legible!! The guy that owns the land now where the old cemetery is told us Lucinda Warnick's grave was the 1st one buried in the old cemetery..and she died in 1845..I still can't figure out why she was buried in the Brizenidine Cemetery though, but maybe I will run across the connection someday..The man that owns the land thinks possibly Lucinda's Griffin side was related to the Brizenidines.. Thanks sooo much for your help...The map you sent me really did the trick!! I couldn't have found it without your help!! As always..you all in the Henry Co group are muchly appreciated...
