I have a History of Henry Co., TN, I understand they have an index to it in the libary in Paris... but I looked for the name Porter.... there is a whole page of info about James Davis Porter...b. 1828 in Paris... it appears he went to college and law school, was a lawyer in Paris, He married in 1852 to Susan Dunlap. I grew up in Wilson, Arkansas and my wife grew up in Blytheville. I am also doing some research in Yell County Arkansas, but a lot of the records have been destroyed (burned). Bill: My grandmother (Martha Ann Bates Guthrie) was raised in Ola, Yell County, Ar. Both parents died before she was a year old; she was the youngest of 8 children. The children were all taken in by different families. She was raised by John J. & Nancy (Beal) Morphis. Nancy was the Aunt of the man Martha Ann would later marry, when she grew up. He was John David Guthrie. When Martha Ann was 16 or 17, after John J. Morphis died, she and Nancy came to Izard County, and that's where she met my granddad. I am indirectly kin to the Harkeys from Ola, in Yell County. Hi folks, does anyone have any info about George A or Meddie B. SAMPSON buried in Poplar Grove Cemetery in East Henry County? I have info from someone that she was buried there, so he probably is too, but no stone has been recorded with those names. Meddie would have been buried in Feb. 1894. Thanks for anything! Dave Ray
