    3. B.J., you didnt say what you wanted to know?? I dug this little bit of info up for you. According to Henry County Cemeteries (DIGS) she was b. 11 Jan. 1885 - d. 19 May, 1972 (I try to always verify the dates). She and husband buried in Memorial Cemetery, Her maiden name was Ozella Wilson and she was married to Homer Dallas Timmons. You could ask for an obit from the library if you wanted to. Hope this answered a question or two. 3. I'd like to find out more about these early settlers of Henry Co: Thomas Arnold, with a military warrant #4196 range 8 section 8, 640 acres, dated 12/14/1820. A tax list entry for "heirs of" appears between 1827 and 1833. Does anyone know exactly where range 8 section 8 are? The first Solicitor General of Henry Co was William Arnold. He was mentioned as a member of the bar in 1824. Is there county or state information on attorneys or solicitors general? Jim

    3. I don't have marriage records, but there is a record of one or possibly two W. R. Wiggins who served in the Civil War from Henry Co. (46th TN Inf., CSA). One, William R., of Co. D, was 40 yrs. old in 1862 when he was discharged for inguinal hernia. Another W. R. or R.W., Co. F, of the 46th, was said to have died of pneumonia as a POW in Camp Douglas, IL in June 1862 and is buried at the Oakwoods Cemetery in Chicago. I did see the entry in the 1880 census about where James thought his parents were born. It could have still been NC if they were born before TN became a state. There were a number of Hedges in MD, mainly Frederick Co, there were Hedges in Brooke Co., WV (then VA), but I have not found any in NC. My first thought was that they traveled from Mecklenburg Co., NC to Henry Co with the McCords, but that has not panned out either. I shall keep on searching. Patricia Max

    3. The Louisville & Nashville RR had a large operation at Paris in Henry County from the late 1800's up until the 1940's or so. There was a large yard and shop operation there. During the steam days engines were changed out at Paris. There is a book entitled "The Memphis Line" by Dennis Mize that covers the subject pretty well (and has loads of photos). Doubt that it will name any of those who worked as laborers. Walker K. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BgB.2ACE/2666.1 Message Board Post: Hello: I had a look at the 1850 census, and Henry Hodge appears on it, listing his birth year as 1782 (approximately) and indicating his wife's name as Susan. He appears on page 7 of 18, while your James Hedge(s) appears on page 2 of 18. This indicates that they were not likely immediate neighbours, but does not rule out a family relationship. However, the 1850 census for Henry gives his birthplace as North Carolina (Susan was the same), whereas the 1880 census for James indicates his parents were both born in Tennessee. This is also not conclusive, but with the spelling difference (which appears to have been consistent over several decades), it is more likely that Henry was not James' father. Perhaps you can find further information about Henry and Susan, to get her maiden name from someone in Henry TN, and find out who their children were. Best of luck Norm Dawson
