Thanks for this posting. I am a GGG-grandson of Darling Jones. I already have the information from this will. I am a GG-granson of C(K)atherine Hinchey McConnell. I am curious why Darling did not list his other children (who were alive when Darling died). If anyone reading this is descended from the Darling Jones, John Hinchey or Francis McConnell families and would like to correspond I can be reached at wkmcculloch@yahoo.com . I have some infromation on these families, but as does everyone, desire still more. Walker K. The woman I am helping knew Ted's mother as Grandma Myrick. I need to find out more info on her. Did you come to the conclusion that the Jennie on the 1900 census 9 Jennie B Scates )was the woman Louis was given to? Do you think Jennie B Scates age 40 on the 1900 at Carroll Co. TN is the same woman on the 1930 at Holcomb, Dunklin Co, MO as Jennie Hyde age 72 widowed and living with your Opel Pope, Neal & Helen? This Jennie Hyde is on the 1910 at Holcomb married to Anson H Hyde. You can email me direct at cguida@djam.com. Thanks, Chris

His birth name was Lawrence William Campbell, 2-14-1884/87, in TN. His father was W. G. Campbell. I found this on his military record, see below. Name: CAMPBELL, LAWRENCE WILLIAM Father: W. G. Campbell. Regimental number: 2500521 Rank: SPR Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1447 - 33 10th Battalion, Canadian Railway Troops (formerly the 256th Overseas Railway Construction Battalion, C.E.F) Canadian Overseas Railway Construction Corps (C.O.R.C.C.) Formed in Canada as the 256th Overseas Railway Construction Battalion, C.E.F. He enlisted on 5-7-1918, at Toronto, Ontario. He served in France with the C.O.R.C.C. from 9-29-1918, and returned to England 1-17-1919. He was discharged from the C.E.F. on Demobilization at London, Ontario, on 4-2-1919. I have no other information on his Father or who his Mother was. I would love to know! As I stated in my post of August 25, 2005, Louis was given to a neighbor, Jenny, after the death of his mother. He was 9 months old. Jenny raised him as Louis Pope. You asked about his sons. Do you have any information? I know he had 3 sons with a lady named Beulah. I have Beulah Floyd, but I was also told that the boys were raised as Merricks. They dropped the name of Merrick and used Pope when they married. Their names were Fredrick O’Neal (Ted) Pope, born 5/31/1913 and passed away 1-16-90 in Memphis TN, Eugene, I have no dates on him, and James Louis, born 7/10/1907 and passed away 7-1985 in Batesville, MS. Ted married Patty Lucille Travis. James married Emmy Weiss. Louis later married my Grandmother Opal Ora Oakes, 2/24/1925, in Holcomb, MO. Opal was the daughter of Henry Keller Oakes and Kate Louellen Lain. Kate was born 2/16/1872 in TN and that is all the information I have on her. Louis and Opal had a son named Bobby Neal Pope, 4/15/1925, my father. He passed away 9/28/2005. He was 3 years old when his father passed away. Louis and Opal also had a daughter, Helen Doris Pope, 2/16/1927. This is all I found in the census records: Name: Louis Pope Home in 1900: Civil District 4, Carroll, Tennessee Age: 15 Estimated birth year: 1885 Birthplace: Tennessee Race: White Relationship to head-of-house: Lodger; Image source: Year: 1900; Census Place: Civil District 4, Carroll, Tennessee; Roll: T623 1560; Page: 5B; Enumeration District: 125. I too would be interested in finding any artists in the Paris area. I have a beautiful charcoal portrait of my great grandparents Stephen Horton Finch and Jimmy Dora Gateley that would have been done between 1908 (when they were married) and 1923 (when Stephen died). There is no name on the portrait. Any information is appreciated.
