I received a message from you that our lines may be related. I am researching Gilliland. The Gilliland's were in Henry county TN in 1850's. There were James, Alexander, Benjamin, William and possibly Samuel. There was a Samuel Gilliland a methodist minister in Henry County also in the 1850's. If any of these are connections to your line please get back to me. Julie Gilliland Liu Danula_1@yahoo.com wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Henry J. Moody, whom you have here, is a bit of a puzzle in that he doesn't fit well with either the Manleyville (Henry County community) Moodys, who were from VA, or with my Moody family, who were from NC and lived in and around what is now Paris Landing State Park. Henry's wife was named Bethany, and they were both born in NC about 1802/1803, according to censuses. I have them on censuses from 1830 through 1870, apparently all while they lived in the Springville community (along the river, but somewhat south of Paris Landing). They may have other children, but I have listed; Rachel, born 1828/1829, Eli, born 1831/1832, Isabella, born 1841/1842, Elizabeth, born 1842/1843, Josephine, born 1846/1847, and Henry G., born Nov/Dec 1849. Henry G. is a stretch (but possible) as their child because Bethany would have been 46 or 47 at the time. Rachel married William Manley fairly late on 21 Jan 1865, suggesting a relationship with people in Manleyville. Eli married Frances Finch 18 July 1849, and they had several children. (I can give you their names and years of birth but no more.) I believe Josephine married John A Dean 29 Dec 1869. Henry G. (for Green, I believe) married Frances W. < - - - >, and they had at least four children, whose names and birth years I can give you. I haven't made much of an attempt to follow them further because they don't appear to be in the family of my Isaac Newton and his brother Elijah W. Moody.
