    3. Be careful of the Rennolds book which was written in 1904 and appearently reprinted in 1961. I found data in it that incorrectly identifies my relatives killed at the battle at Island 10. A family member was killed there but not the one the author names. The National Archives have different family belonging to the unit than Rennolds. 2. In response to Karli: I am also doing long-distance Henry County research. One resource I found very helpful is the Tennessee State Library & Archives. I have borrowed several books and rolls of microfilm through interlibrary loan. The following are rolls of microfilm that are available: Roll #70 Marriage Records - 1838-1882 Roll #102 Wills - 1822-1844 Roll #103 Wills - 1844 - 1863 Roll #44 Administrators', Executors' Guardians' Settlements - 1839-1870 Roll #108 Deed Index - 1822-1908 The following books are also available: History of Henry County (Johnson, 1958) History of Henry County commands which served in the Confederate Army (Rennolds, 1961) Historical Pen Sketches of Henry County (Inman) Inscriptions in Stone (Henry county Cemetery committee) I'm sure more have been added, I'm looking at an old list. These items can be held for 2 weeks. Check their website. I am new to this list and I'm researching the following names in Henry County: HAYS, ENGLAND, WALKER, HOUSE and CAYCE. I would love to hear from anyone who might also be researching these lines. Thank you, Andrea Padula

    3. There is much available in Henry Co. as I told someone else, there are records both on film and in book form. If people will get back to me after the holidays, I will try to get some help with look ups. We have a Genealogical Society and might have some including me that would help. There's just too much going on for several weeks to make any promises. Joy Bill Dye wrote: > I have no idea what kind of Henry County history books there are. 3. I am searching BROACH'S, BURCH'S, AND LIGHTFOOTS IN HENRY COUNTY. They are in the county by 1827/28. Am looking for info on George BROACH, Jane Burch Broach, and CAroline Matilda Lightfoot. Also searching info on the descendants of GREEN BROACH son of George and Jane BROACH. I also want to know if the records of Wills, marriages, census, death have been filmed and if they are available at the LDS Family history centers? Has anyone looked at Henry County filmed records there? I live out of state and need to view several records and the archives there does not loan their inter library loan. I did get the film index for Land and Deed though but now need to get the microfilm of the actual Will and Land/Deed books. I wouold like to know if they can be sent off for. 1. [TNHENRY-L] Gray & Sims marriage.
    2. I know that early Stewart marriages were destroyed but are there other early records that exist? Looking for more on Wilmoth (?) SIMS GRAY. She is on the 1830 Stewart census as Wilmot Sims and has a young girl in her household and a male child who is my 3rd g grandfather William M. Sims b. 1828 in KY or TN. Judging from the 1830 & 1840 Stewart census, Wilmoth m. John W. Gray somtime between 1830-1840. According to Stewart m rec.William Sims m. Elizabeth Jane S. Kennedy 1846. Supposed to have went to Iowa in 1844 so apparently returned to get his wife. The Sims and Gray families show up in the 1850 Marion Co., Iowa census without a Mr. Gray. The Gray sons have given names that I have also seen in the Henry Co., Tn Census Index, ie. Archibald, Thomas, John... Have looked at film of Stewart court minutes and deed indexs but can find not on any Mr. SIMS or John W. GRAY. Any sugestions? Thanks a bunch, MontDobie

    3. Hello to all, I want to put this information in front of you and see if anyone can prove or disprove my theory. >From the 1850 Graves Co, Kentucky Census Fam 546 Stark family Fam 547 Stark family Fam 548 JONES, Frances L. 27 f SC (She was a Stark b 1823 Laurens Co, SC) , Mary 10 f KY (She was Mary P. JONES) ,Jackson 5 m KY (He was Jackson W. JONES) ,James 3 m KY (He was James McClure JONES) ,Ann 1 f KY (She was Ann E. JONES Fam 549 MOIZE ?, Nancy 46 f Tn ,L. 16 f Tn (Have no idea who this family is) ,Mary 8 f Ky Fam 550 Fagan, C. 35 m Ireland ,Mary 25 f Tn ,James 7 m Ky ,Eliz 5 f Ky ,Rachel 4 f Ky ,Wm 2 m Ky JONES, James 75 m NC farmer Fam 548 Stark family Now to make a point here, The STARK families are related to Frances L. Jones. I really think the MOIZE should be MORSE. The James Jones 75 b NC I think is the grandfather of Mary FAGAN and James Garland JONES (not listed, already dead, husband of Frances L. Stark JONES. All the listing above is from SW Graves Co, Kentucky. Additional JONES listing from SW Graves Co, Kentucky (Head of Household Only) Fam 34 James JONES 48 m farmer NC Fam 69 T. L. MORSE 27 m merchant TN (living in household, E. JONES f 10 KY) Fam 77 LeRoy JONES 37 m farmer TN Fam 87 Wm W JONES 41 m tanner KY Fam 98 William JONES 44 m KY Fam 99 W MEACHAM29 m KY (listed as W.A. MEACHAM) Fam 100 C. JONES 8 m NC (living in household of J.J. MEACHAM) Fam 106 W.S. JONES 44 m farmer TN Fam 146 E.? MOIZE 35 m farmer NC (think this should be MORSE) Fam 289 J. JONES 16 m farmer TN (living in household of M.W.Galloway) Fam 298 B.B. JONES 40 m farmer NC Fam 302 T.J. JONES 36 m TN Fam 589 J.W. JONES 39 m Blksmith TN >From the other section of Graves Co but right next to SW portion is Fam 770 Aquilla JONES 54 m NC Now my theroy is this: The James JONES that is 75 and living in the household of C. FAGAN is the father of James JONES Fam 34 and William JONES Fam 98 and probably many of these others. I think James JONES 75 is the grandfather in law of Frances L. JONES Fam 548 and the William JONES fam 98 is the father of the dead husband, James Garland JONES, of Frances L. Stark JONES......James Garland named a son James and James named a son William......in all these families listed James and William appears to be the name of choice! I do know the family came from North Carolina.......! Now prove me wrong.........thank you in advance.........pj

    3. Hi, I am Paula Howard Thompson of South Fulton, Tn. I posted a message the first day of this new board but thought maybe we have more people now so here I go again!! Surnames of ALDERDICE and McCLAINS and various spellings (there is many of them) with given names of Joseph, John, Charles, George, James in the 1700s and early 1800s Charles, John, George and Charles were in Weakley Co., Tn. by 1826 with land grants. The Alderdices and McClains intermarried on several occasions..... I have a very large data base on this family, but there still is so many unanswered question such as Who did Charles b @ 1780 marry Elizabeth ???? Who did John b @ 1800 marry Lydia ???? Was John the son of Charles? George's wife???? b @ 1795/99 Young Charles b @ 1805, who did he belong to? George above??? We are pretty sure this family came from Maryland originally..... Happy to exchange info.........email me for big happening on May 1, 1999 concerning these families descendants ..........pj gggrandaughter of John McClain, ggranddaughter of Allen McClain b 1825 and granddaughter of Lucy Caroline McClain Jones b 1878 in Weakley Co, Tn........ I am also sending copies of this posting to McClain rootsweb and Weakley Co, Tn. rootsweb.....and Henry Co, Tn rootsweb......Jackson Purchase Kentucky rootsweb and Hickman Co, Ky. rootsweb........these people were in all of these places........thank you in advance.........pj
