Would anyone tell me how to obtain the McEvory Funeral Home book? Thanks
Would anyone on the site happen to be researching these names or the GERMAN surname? I just learned that my great grandmother's full maiden name was Mandy German HUZEL/HUGHES/HUGEL/HUGLE. Depending on what source one is reviewing. She was born in TN and I have found her in the 1870 Henry County census, showing her as Amanda JONES and to be 26; although the spelling in the census is HAGUL for her mother, who was living with Amanda and Marshall JONES. I feel that the name "GERMAN" could be a family name. Her mother is listed as being Tabitha, age 47. In the McEvoy Funeral Home book, Amanda Jones is listed as GERMAN, MANDY, age 77. It shows her father as being Marshal Jones. This is an obvious oversight, and it shows that she was married but doesn't give a husband's name. She died in 1921 and it shows my grandfather, Lawrence Jones and his brother Charlie, as being responsible for the funeral. So I know it's the right woman. To further confuse the names, it shows in the McEvoy book that Mandy's mother was HUZEL, Tabitha. However, in the 1870 census it also shows other children, William, age 7; Samuel, age 3 and James, age 8 mos. Then it shows Mary HAGUL, age 14 and Tabitha, age 47. I was always told that Mandy's last name was "Hugle, Hugley, or something like that." In 1942, one of my uncles died and it reads that his father was JONES, Marshall and his mother was HUGEL, Manda. Later, in the McEvoy book, it shows where my aunt died in 1943 and reads that her father was JONES, Marshall and her mother was HUGHES, Amanda. HELP!! Also, I'm available to do look-ups in the McEvoy book if anyone needs it. Thanks, Virginia

I posted here on 28 August but have received additional information since that time, so thought it might be worthwhile to try again. I am trying to locate my g-g-grandfather, Pleasant HUDSON who according to one of his son's death certificates was born in Henry County, TN. I believe he married a Mary ? (b 1821 TN) based on the 1880 Obion Cty Census where a Mary HUDSON age 59 is listed as mother-in-law in the household of the youngest HUDSON daughter Cora (Thomas M. HAMPTON) . However, there is other evidence that Pleasant may have been born in Virginia in 1820, married to a different woman. This is based on two sources: the Hudson Family Assoc. and the 1860 Obion Cty Census #171-30. The HFA shows his wife was a woman named Plynia HUBBARD no birth date or location given. This record also says Pleasant was born in VA in 1820. The 1860 Obion Cty census shows P. HUDSON to be 47 years old (birth year would be 1813) and his wife is listed with the initial "P" age 39. Most of the initials and birth dates of the children shown in the census and HFA information match my records closely; however there are children listed that I did not know about. My records show that most of the children were born in Obion Cty, TN and some remained there all of their lives. I am checking all the counties surrounding or in close proximity to Obion County in hopes of finding Pleasant HUDSON prior to 1860. Somewhere, I hope to locate a marriage record that will prove who his wife is (perhaps there was a second wife). I have ordered another son's death certificate in hopes that there will be additional information about Pleasant HUDSON and his wife. From kind help supplied by a Danville Crossing list member, it appears the Pleasant HUDSON family was not listed in the 1850 Obion Cty, TN Census which gives me hope that I will locate the family elsewhere. Thanks! Information is greatly appreciated. Lonna Jean Conroy

Hello folk! Found this connection through danvillecrossing posts. This will take you to the holdings of the Family Book files. I say many Rutherford Names including Northcutt, Vawter, Tucker, etc. http://carroll.aeneas.net/~gbm/family/family.htm THIS address should work because I cut and pasted it fromt he address window. They also have a large collection of Census Info both Sistler and Microfilm. This looks like a cool place to go and it's not so far away. It is located in McKenzie in Carroll County, so the lions share is Carroll info but they haven't left much out for the rest of us. Happy hunting. Marsha

Today I confirmed the name of my g-g-grandfather, Pleas (Pleasant) HUDSON, born in Henry County, TN probably about 1820. This information was on the death certificate I requested from the Tennessee Archives for my g-g-uncle John B. HUDSON (b 1840 TN; d 1916 Obion Co., TN). Unfortunately, the maiden name of John B. HUDSON's mother was listed as "unknown" on the death certificate. However, I believe the wife of Pleas HUDSON was a woman named Mary P. ? who was born in TN in 1821. I found a Mary P. HUDSON in the 1880 Obion County Census. Mary was listed as "mother-in-law" in the household of Thomas M. HAMPTON. Thomas M. HAMPTON was the husband of Pleas and Mary's youngest daughter, Cora HUDSON. Mary's father was born in NC; her mother in Georgia and she was listed as 59 years old at the time of the 1880 Obion Co. Census. Does anyone on the list have a connection to HUDSON in Henry County, TN? Pleas and Mary had six children. It is believed that all these children were born in Obion County, TN; however, the birth date of their son Henry HUDSON who died at Shiloh in April 1862 is unknown. There is a possibility that he was the oldest of the children and may have been born in Henry or Weakley County, TN. The children of Pleas and Mary P. ? HUDSON are: 1. Henry HUDSON, (b unknown date or place, d April 1862 Shiloh, TN) 2. John B. HUDSON, (b 18 Jan. 1840 TN, d 16 July 1916 Obion Co. TN), m Mary CROCKETT/CROCKETTE, (b 03 April 1844 in ?, d 22 July 1901 Obion Co., TN). Both are buried at Antioch Church Cemetery in Obion Co., TN 3. Benjamin Waller HUDSON, (b 30 Jan. 1844 Union City, Obion Co., TN, d 20 May 1907 Taft, Butler Co., MO). Marriages: 1. 25 Feb. 1869 in Obion Co. TN to Alice M. CALHOUN (b 24 May 1850 Troy, Obion Co., TN, d 29 Nov. 1883 Antioch, near Union City, Obion Co., TN); 2. 14 October 1884 probably in TN to Sarah Penelopee WRAY (b 10 May 1857 unknown place, d 23 Nov. 1893 in Neelyville, Butler Co., MO); 3. April 1895 in Butler Co., MO to Nancy Jane MORROW (b date and place unknown; d date unknown, probably Butler Co., MO); 4. Unknown date probably Butler Co., MO to Laura DODD (b and d date and place unknown). 4. Mary Ann HUDSON (b 29 Jan. 1847 TN; died 28 June 1940 Cape Girardeau, Girardeau Co., MO), m unknown date or place John Martin ALEXANDER (b 25 April 1838 TN, d 12 Nov. 1917 Parma, New Madrid Co., MO). 5. Tennessee Adaline HUDSON (b 18 Feb. 1851 Obion Co. Tn, d 29 May 1939 probably Hornbeak, Obion Co., TN) m unknown date probably Obion County, TN Joseph Salvonus HAYES (b 05 May 1849 Obion Co., TN, d 25 March 1921 probably Hornbeak, Obion Co., TN) 6. Cora HUDSON (b 1857 Obion Co., TN, d unknown date or place) m between Jan. and June 1880 in Obion Co., TN Thomas M. HAMPTON (b between 1851-1854 in TN, d unknown date or place). In the Tennessee Death Index 1908-1912, I found the following HUDSON deaths in Henry County, TN: Mary HUDSON died 1909, Record #43003 R.T. HUDSON died 1909, Record #43459 Robert HUDSON died 1909, Record #43035 Does anyone on the list have access to the actual records in this death index who could do a look up for me? Any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lonna Jean Conroy McCammon, Idaho LJConroy@Juno.Com http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/c/o/n/Lonna-J-Conroy/
I erred in my previous posting concerning Unysis' Licensing Fee. It is not $2500 per year, but instead a one-time payment of $5000. Apologies for the oversight. Dave -----------------original message - ----------------------------------------------------------- For of you who have Websites on the Internet, Unysis Corp. is requiring a License Fee of $2500 per year from those non-comercial websites that use either '.gif or .tiff' images. Is there anyone out there who has access to marriage records? I have a copy of a transcribed list for a marriage for William H. Burns and Caroline Griffin for 7 Sept 1840 in Henry C., TN. The list is from a copy of a milcrofilmed book titled "Henry County Tennessee Marriages, CVolume One, 1838-1852" Compiled by W.O. Inman and published by Friends of the Library, Paris-Henry County Public Library. I don't know what these records were compiled from, but I would like to find out if there is more to the marriage record than just the groom and bride's names, the date and who married them (Sam C. Love- J.P.). I am willing to pay for mailing, photocopying and time, within reason. Please let me know if anyone can help me out. I am also willing to exchange research done in TN for research I can do here in CA (northern CA, mainly Butte Co., though I could do some research in the surrounding counties). I'd greatly appreciate whatever help you can give me....these darn people have been alluding my cousins and me for years!!! Jennifer
