Linda, and list Please forgive me for forwarding this to the list. My isp is complaining about your personal return address. If it is actually correct, let me know and I'll speak to my mail-admins personally. I know that they are having a bit of a mail-server problem at UF in the wake of hurricane Francis but... He died in Sweetwater, Nolan County Texas and is buried in the Tharpe-McCall plot in the Sweetwater Cemetery. Annie was actually named Ann Tuell McCall in honor of William Shaw McCall's mother. We carefully identify our William McCalls, there are so many of them. Is there any specific information you need, I'm happy to share. Good Morning E J, I'm sorry I can't help you . I know nothing about the Winsett family. I got the name James Winsett off some notes I had been sent from a distant cousin. There was a letter written years ago that talked about the old Broach Graveyard. The writer of the letter had gone to the farm of James H Broach and found it occupied by James Winsett, son of Sallie Broach Winsett & grandson of James H Broach. The letter says that James Winsett was about 90 yrs old & his mind was completely gone. But James' children told this person that George & Jane Broach were buried on the farm in a family plot about 3/4 mile from the house. I keep thinking I have seen some more mention of the name Winsett in my notes somewhere, but can't seem to find anything on it. If I run across any info, I'll let you know. Just wondering if your SIMMONS could be related to Ernie SIMMONS. I believe some of his family came to Henry County from Wilson County TN and he was some how related to the HEWGLEY family, also spelled HUEGUELY, who was originally from Switzerland and came to the U.S. in 1777. I believe Ernie/Ernest SIMMONS would have been born ca 1900. I've also been researching both families. Hi, I don't have a family for Allena Simmons but she is likely related to the other Simmons of Henry Co. The Simmons and Lemonds of Henry Co. are related. I just don't have any ideas where she might attach to the family. I'll save your e-mail on Allena's notes page and if I ever find anything, I will send it. Pat
Joy, Yes he did have a daughter Lizzie(Elizabeth Idelle) as well as many other children. Did you know her? I do not know much at all on Sam. He was my husband's g grandfather's brother. From what I have found he must have had several different wives. I am looking for any info that I can possibly find. I have found him on several census, that is the only reason I know he lived in Henry Co TN. This homeplace you mentioned..Is it anywhere near the Spring Creek Cemetery? Could possibly this Lizzie still be alive? Seems she was born around 1915. I believe there was 1 younger daughter, don't know her name though. Could possibly descendants of Sam Lipford still live in that area? Joy, you have got my excited about this family again..Please tell me anything you know about them..and where this homeplace is located.. Joy, Eliza Lipford & her husband James lived in Calloway Co KY. She died in Calloway Co KY on Jan 13, 1917. She was transported to Spring Creek & buried. The death certificate only says Spring Creek...not Spring Creek Cemetery. That might possibly be a clue in itself. I noticed when I was looking on the map, there is a Spring Creek (not cemetery) in the area. Might this homeplace of Sam Lipford possibly be in Spring Creek? Maybe that would explain why I can't find her grave at Spring Creek Cemetery. But her husband (and Sam's father) was buried at Spring Creek Cemetery in 1922. I naturally assumed that was the Spring Creek the death certificate has listed as place of burial. I just can't understand why I can't find her. 1917 was not sooooo long ago. Thanks Joy for all your help..I would really like any info that you can tell me on the Sam Lipford's homeplace or any of his descendants..What can you tell me about Elizabeth Idelle or her family? OOOOH I am soooo excited. Finally proof that Sam Lipford did exist. Oh, by the way.....HAPPY LABOR DAY EVERYONE!!!! Joan Broach Morris
Joan, Did you tell me that you had a death cert for Liza Lipford? Please send me what you know from that death cert. Also, what do you know about Sam Lipford? If this is who I think it might be, I live in sight of the old Sam Lipford home place. Did he have a daughter Elizabeth Idelle? McEvoy funeral home book does not show a Lipford in 1917 but at this time caskets were shipped to Mansfield and sold to families from there. I don't think they had a "funeral parlor" as we think of today as most bodies were carried to the home and the "wake" was held there before services. Someone else maybe can tell you more but think they only embalmed and sold the caskets. Joy JOAN MORRIS wrote: >Joy, She died in 1917..Liza Lipford was her name. I looked a long time for her. They had a son Samuel Lipford that lived in Henry Co also. I can't seem to find much on him either. > >Thanks for any help you can give me. I really appreciate it. In looking up some stuff on the Broach Cemetery, I found this great TN County map site. (Joan, I'll email you shortly.) http://www.tdot.state.tn.us/Maps/county/default.htm
Hi, the only thing I have on her is, she was born in 1796 in N.C. What is your connection to her? I have tried the genforum for Simmons but no luck. Do you have anything on her family? Hi, Do you have any information on Allena Simmons' parents and siblings? Would appreciate any help. Pat
Joan, what Broaches are you looking for? I can't find the original email that has any names mentioned in it. I've done some research on the Broaches of Henry/Carroll county through their connection to my Waddles. Email me and I'll see if I can help you. Delanie
Thanks Lee, I probably passed the church last spring when I was there..I just did not have it on my list. We just drove around in circles looking for the old Broach Graveyard on Broach property. I have been told that where the house use to be that there is now a deer stand. I do intend to go back soon, and now since I know the longitude & latitude..hopefully I will be able to find it.. The McEvoy Funeral Records that you mentioned. How far do they go back? I am trying to find any proof of death of my gg grandfather Sidney Smith Broach..Many people believe that he died in Henry Co TN..He died Oct 2,1854. If the records go back that far, would you mind looking to see if there is any record of his death? Thanks...Joan Broach Morris
Sometimes people buy a double tombstone for him and her to be buried together when the first of them dies, and then the other one remarries and is buried with spouse #2. It does leave a half empty plot and a stone with her info all but the year of death on it, and confuse genealogists. ;-) Cacky
Thanks Lee, Any Broach info that anyone finds..I will muchly appreciate. Those Broaches are my relatives. I never knew there was a Shiloh Cemetery in Mansfield. I had been searching Shiloh in McKenzie. Whenever I go back to Mansfield looking for the Broach Graveyard..hopefully I can find Shiloh also. Thanks so much.. Joan Broach Morris
