Hi Marietta, I guess you sent this message before you got the listings for BROWN. I did them already and I think you will find a lot of your family. Most of the listings were just as an official signing various documents. It made it look like a ton of entries. Turned out that it wasn't so bad after all. Sure hope it helps you. Peggy

Hi Mary Louise, Thank you for pointing out that these old documents are not infallible. They made errors on the original documents, there are sure to be errors by transcribers due to the writing and I may make errors myself in copying the transcribed documents. I have tried to copy the wording and spellings exactly as they are written, but without a proofreader, errors will be made. Anyone using these will lookups should try to obtain the original. By using the Will Book letter and page number, I think you can order a copy of the original. I'm not sure about how the process works in Henry County, but I know someone on this list will know how to go about it. And thank you also for sharing your corrections. It will be a great help to some other researcher later on. Peggy
I'd like to make a couple of corrections to the will of Elias Bowden who is my 4th gr grandfather. I am a descendant of his daughter Holland/Hollin, not Hollis, Bowden who married John Olive. Her sister Mary Bowden married Fielding Lewis Veasey/Veazey, not Searcy. After the deaths of Holland (Bowden) Olive and Fielding Lewis Veazey, John Olive married his sister-in-law Mary (Bowden) Veazey. The old handwriting can be difficult so I can understand how Hollin became Hollis and Veasey became Searcy. Mary Louise Outgoing mail checked by Norton AntiVirus
Suzanne-- Yes, most of it is sheet music for piano. I also have beaucoup copies of a music magazine that was called ETUDE from the early 1900s. Do you live in Paris? Sorry, you must have misunderstood. Marietta isn't doing the lookups. I will check for Sneed after I do the Browns for Marietta. Could you also give me a name to target? It would help a lot. Thanks. Peggy
Hi Marietta, I just took a peek and there are more Brown's than I can handle. Do you have a particular name I can look for? I have a family wedding this weekend and guests coming, so my time is really limited now. If you can narrow my search, I will be able to help you sooner. Thanks. Peggy
Hi-- My great-grandfather, Dr. James Brady, used to manufacture a stomach tonic called "Brady's Neurotone No. 7." Going through some old boxes in our house, I found large advertisement that was in one of the local papers for it. Of course, with my luck, the ad doesn't have a date on it, but it would have been in the paper in the early 1900s, when my great-grandparents still lived in Cottage Grove. They moved to Paris in the early 1920s. Anyway, I have a favor to ask: if any of you who look at old papers on microfilm ever run into an ad for Dr. Brady's Neurotone No. 7" or Dr. Brady's store (he was a jeweler and optometrist at 216 Poplar St. in Paris), could you mark down the date it was in the paper and let me know so that I can make a copy of it? Also, I keep finding things related to his business, such as his business cards, stationery, labels for the bottles, but the one thing I still cannot find is a bottle of his Neurotone No. 7 with the label on it. If anyone out there has one or sees one in a local antique store, let me know and I will pay for it. Thank you Shannon McFarlin Paris, TN. Also, I have boxes (and boxes) of old sheet music (both popular and classical) that my grandmother and her twin sister, Ellie Snow and Nellie Jenkins, used to teach pupils in Paris. I really want someone to get some use out of it--does anyone know anyone that would be interested? Some of it is designed for music teachers. Boxes of it are very high-brow musically since Nell was classically trained at the conservatory at St. Louis. Many others are sheet music for popular music from the early 1900s. _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected?
