    2. Someone responded earlier that this data is included on the 1840 U. S. Census on the second page. I think I knew that at one time, but had totally forgotten about it. I'll be able to hide my own Easter eggs soon. I feel certain that you are both correct in that they are military pensioners. How amazing is it that George Britton lived to be 102 years old in that era? Does anyone know which war he fought in? He would have been a little old for the Revolutionary War unless he was a general or something. I swear I don't think I've ever even heard of a pensioner from the French and Indian War. That is a pension application that I would dearly love to read. Thanks for the info, Mary Louise. Peggy

    3. Peggy, I believe these are Henry County pensioners of the Revolutionary and War of 1812. I know Elias Bowden was. There is a book by Zella Armstrong titled TWENTY-FOUR HUNDRED TENNESSEE PENSIONERS and I suspect the list came from that. 3. These are probably people in Henry County in 1840 who were collecting a Revolutionary War pension. The 1840 pension gives their names and ages in the line of the household in which they live.
