    3. Ok, first I owe you an apology, the information I have does indeed list John T. Mathis and Kittie Griffin b. 1863 as the parents of Charley. John's parents are them listed as Adley and Elizabeth. Kids listed are Pinky, Rosa, Charley, Francis, Onie, and Sampson. Debbie -----Original Message----- From: Donna Marshall [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2005 9:02 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNHENRY] Mathis search Debbie, Here is my info on John Mathis. He was born in 1858 in Tennessee. His middle name was either Erwin, Irwin or Irvine, think it is Irvine (several grandsons named after him). He married Kittie Ann Griffin in 1879. Their children: Pink Joseph (my grandfather), Rosa C. (Rosie), Charlie, Francis (female), Onie (female), Sampson, Myrtle, & Erton. I can't find anything to confirm John's family but I have some good possibilities. I can't find anything on Onie and Myrtle after they married and left home. My dad remembers them as Onie Cook and Myrtle Pipkins. Myrtle was shown on Sampson's obit as Myrtle Houston! Only adds confusion to the story. If anything you have resembles any of this I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks! 3. Joan, Mrs. Neese is dead and there are many descendants of this family from one source or another living in Henry County. Many of the older generations have died. I have thrown away the Lifpford research I did for you because I didn't think I needed it anymore. Much of my information came from funeral home records and when you can't find a person listed in the cemetery records it usually means the grave was never marked. I believe I remember that Sam married 3 times and Mrs. Neese I think was Hattie's child from her Walker marriage. I wish I hadn't thrown all that information away because I knew many of the people I found but thought I had sent it all to you and I didn't need it. Sorry, Joy JOAN MORRIS wrote: >Hello, Does anyone know Mrs W.J. Neese from Paris TN? 3. Ok here is a stab at this. Do you know for sure that the father of your Charley is John? My guess would be no. I believe his father was Adley T. 1824-1861 who married Elizabeth B. Ellis 1822 -? Adley's father was James Mathis 1799-1862 and mother Isabelle Boyd 1799-1876. James was our John's (1824-1884) brother, he was married to Jane Stewart. One of their kids, John Byron Mathis, had a daughter in law that was named Myrtle, and she was a Mandle but she was much younger than the rest of them, she married into the family in 1914. 2. Joan; To my knowledge there are not two Bethesda cemetery's and I have looked at that list, as well, and found several error's concerning some of my family names. I have not sent in corrections but you may have seen where I located my great grandmother's name and she's buried under her middle name, rather than her married name. (also at Bethesda) I need to take the time to go through the list again and sent the corrections accordingly. Also, there are several NEESE burials listed in the McEvoy book, so maybe there are more family members living in Paris and hopefully someone will contact you. 2. You're more than welcome, Joan; I have a similar situation in trying to locate the death and burial place of my great grandfather, Marshall Pitts JONES. Can't find him anywhere and I've been looking for years. Most all of my family is buried at Bethesda in Paris, TN and it's like poor ol Marshall just evaporated into thin air. I haven't let it run me totally crazy, .... just a little bit crazy. LOL This list is absolutely wonderful. Glad to be of help to anyone that asks. I've certainly gotten my fair share of assistance from folks. And the library in Paris is absolutely marvelous. Hope to go back and visit very soon. Debbie Liles Weatherford Tx What do you want to know the most??!!! -----Original Message----- From: JOAN MORRIS [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 1:05 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNHENRY] THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!! Virginia, Thanks soooo much!! That is definitely a tremendous help..At least it gives me a place to start..Surely there has to be record of his death somewhere in Henry Co TN..or a will or something..I'll have to check next time I come to Henry Co Library..He just did not up & disappear..If he was still alive in 1960, possibly some family member will remember when he died & where he was buried.. Thanks as always! I do so appreciate all the help you all give me..You all are the greatest!! Joan Broach Morris -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 1. Re: MATHIS look-up/McEvoy book
    2. "Mrs. John Mathis d. Oct. 21, 1917; near Whitlock; Age 51 yr; Stewart Cem." "Mathis, John B. b.Aug 1, 1855,near Paris, d. June 30, 1935; El Dorado, Ark.; Age 79 yr. 10 mo. 29 da.; Widower; O: Retired Farmer; Stewart Cem.; Father; John Mathis, TN.; Mother: _______ Stewart, TN." Hope this helps. Both are listed in the McEvoy book. Incidently, there are a lot of Mathis listings. 1. [TNHENRY] Matheny & Ward
    2. There are quite a few Matheny and Ward burials in the McEvoy book. I will look these up and forward the info to you off-list. Please allow me a few hours to get this one completed. 1. [TNHENRY] LOOKUP/Lipford
    2. From the McEvoy book: "LIPFORD, Hattie Covington b. Dec 8, 1881, TN d. Jan 28,1960; Res Apt 22, Morningside Village: Married: Maplewood Cem; Husband Sam D.Lipford; Father: John Lawrence; Mother; Rebecca Jane Pofford; Info. Mrs. W. J Neese, Paris." This is the only reference to a Sam or Samuel LIPFORD. Looks like he was still living in 1960, though. Perhaps the above information will assist you in locating him. 1. Lipford
    2. Pat
    3. Joan, Thought I would send this Lipford, since Lipford is an unusual name. He just might be related somehow. He is an interesting person anyway. Pat Oliver Lipford m. Bodie Alice Lemond. Bodie was borrn June 30, 1891. Here are my notes for Oliver. He fought with Sgt. York in WWI. Buck Sargeant, very decorated, many medals, saw much battle. They lived in Friendship, TN Does anyone know where Friendship is located?
