Peggy, The answer your question is yes. They have a lot of good books for sale. Here's a tip that has been good for me. I see a book I want. I tell my wife, She tells the family, they buy it from the Rhea Room at the library as a gift, and I get the book and cost me nothing. Can not wait till Fathers Day. Thanks, Leroy. Do you know if they are for sale? Peggy
I am answering this with great fear that I could be very, very wrong. I have the book of what I think are the earliest marriage records for Henry County. This book begins in 1838 and goes through 1852. Then I have a Ancestry records from 1850-1900 and another book from 1901-1910. Let me know if I can help you. Peggy
Well, my face is red! I didn't know there was a Henry County Marriage Book. Where can I buy it? Thanks. Peggy
As far as I know the marriage records have only been published through 1910. I guess you have to go to the courthouse for any later records. I'm sure the local folks would know where to go, but I have purchased everything available and that is only through 1910. Peggy
Hi Does anyone have a Marriage Index for Henry County, around the year of 1920? I am looking for the Marriage record " William Earl Newport to Willie Mae Jackson" date and place. Many Thanks Bill
Peggy, They have the Marriage books in the Inman Room of the Rhea Library in Paris. They have them in books covering 10 year periods up to 1950. Roxie, I am a descendant of Gwins, and I also live in Calloway Co KY.But I have never know any of them to live in this area. My ggg grandmother was Jane Gwin that married James Hamilton. Her parents came from Ireland. She died in Carroll Co TN in 1843. Does any of this sound familiar? Maybe we are related..But our spelling is "Gwin"...I have never found it listed anywhere with a "O" in front of it.. Joan Broach Morris -- No virus found in this outgoing message. On the information you sent, you stated that Jefferson D. Davis etc...was that supposed to be Jefferson D. Gore? Also the Cora Gore listed is not my greatgrandmother. She was born in KY in 1881. Could you double check and see if she is listed under O'Guin/ O'Guinn/Guinn/ Gwin? This name has really been mangled over the years. Her marriage license said Miss Cora Guinn. Thanks again for checking. Roxi B
Thank you for checking this for me. I really appreciate your help. Roxi B
Cora O'Guin Gore...her husband was Jefferson Davis Gore. Her brother was also baptized there...he was Porter O'Guin
My greatgrandma was a member of the Foundry Hill RLDS Church and was baptized there, but later was expelled from the church and a few years later reinstated. Anyone know of any reason why this might have happened? I can't get any answers from the RLDS world headquarters in Independence MO. Just curious Roxi B

You may already have this information but this is what is on the church records: JEFFERSON D. DAVIS, Born April 29, 1861 in Paris, Henry County, TN - Baptized on August 8, 1896 at Paris, Henry County, Tennessee by T. C. Kelley and confirmed by Kelley, L(S)ory & Seaton - he died July 8, 1900 and he was expelled - there is no explanation why. CORA A. GORE, Born July 9, 1869 in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee - Baptized on July 27, 1889 in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee by Peter B. Seaton and confirmed by Peter B. Seaton. On the record for Cora A. Gore, the name GORE was drawn through and the name SEATON was written in. In another column, it says she married Elder Peter B. Seton on September 22, 1898 by Elder J. F. Henson. In the column, "Removed, Expelled or Died", it simply says, Kansas City, Missouri - this probably means that she was "removed" by letter because she went to Kansas City. I do not find the name PORTER O'GUIN listed at all. Thank you so much for checking for me - I really appreciate it. The RLDS is the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - this was the break-off branch from the Mormon Church. My great-grandparents, WILLIAM & MARY CLAPP SNOW were members of this church along with at least three of their children. Gertie's grandfather, GREEN P. SNOW, and many of his family members were also members of the RLDS. The other Foundry Hill is a Baptist Church - it is my understanding that the two cemeteries are near each other on the same road. Thanks again.
