Cole (JP) bondsman: J.M. Lemonds (I see the initials are wrong for Francis. My copy is likely misread. I would check with the library genealogy room at hcgenealogy@hotmail.com and get a free lookup of the original for verification. Although I'm sure it is them) I found the date according to the 1900 census which lists years of marriage and backtracked. What is funny is that as I am sitting here looking through my resources I recall that Francis' son Herman was married to my great-aunt Anna Grooms. Ironic huh? I wish my father were still alive as he knew them all very well. Hope this has been helpful. Laura Grooms Denham

It reads as follows: McClure, Margurie b. 1851 d. May 6, 1923. Age 72. Gives her father as Whitman Collins and mother as "Tom McFadden". Nope, I didnt mispell that. Its a mystery how they came up with Tom McFadden isnt it? Other than that, it just verifies she was buried as Chapel Hill and that the funeral was charged to Ed McClure. Betty

    3. Hello Ruth, The ancestor I am looking for is a WARNICK, not a Brisendine..I have no clue why she is buried in the Brisendine Cemetery...She could possibly have been related maybe, but I have not found the Brisendine name anywhere in my searchings...except the name of the old cemetery...Maybe she just lived in the neighborhood!! I have no idea... 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Caldwell, Steeley, Upchurch Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BgB.2ACE/2624.1 Message Board Post: Thomas Preston "Dick" Caldwell was the son of Sarah Elizabeth Johnson and William David Caldwell. Dick was born 8 Oct 1882 in Tennessee (I'm sure in Henry County since as far as I know his father never left there, being born and dying there - and his parents were married there on 9 Dec 1881). Dick married first on 9 Mar 1904 in Henry Co. to Beulah Steeley (who was the daughter of Mary Louise Cole and Dr. Richard B. Steeley). Beulah and Dick had 5 children before her death on 22 Aug 1911. Needing a mother for his children, Dick then married on 27 May 1913 in Henry Co., Tn., to a widow who was almost 20 years older than him, Marina Elizabeth "Bettie" Upchurch Lowther (dau. of Martha Ann Rebecca Wynns and John Frank Upchurch; she was first married to Thomas E Lowther and had 2 daughters with him), who raised his children and thought the world of her young handsome husband. After Dick's death on 17 June 1927 in Henry Co. "in the line of duty" as sheriff, Bettie was named a! s the first woman sheriff of Henry Co., Tn. and finished his term - although Dick's brother, James Alfred "Alf" Caldwell was actually the acting sheriff who moved his family into the jail building in Paris and completed Dick's term of office. When Dick registered for the draft on 12 Sept 1918, he was described as Height: - Tall; Build - Medium; Eyes - Blue; Hair - Black. At that time he gave his occupation as farmer and justice of the peace, residing on RFD 1, Springville, Tn. His 5 children were Kathleen, Clarice, Rosa, T.P. Jr. (Bud) and George. Do you want more? I can give you the newspaper account of his death and an "almost" first hand account of his death that was written by a daughter of Alf. Just let me know what you want. See the 2 photos attached and also a pic of his signature.

    2. Joan Morris
    3. Hello Peggy1950, I just wanted to let you know that we found Brisendine Cemetery in Puryear TN, thanks to you...Only problem, it is in the middle of a wheat field, full of wheat..of course!! The wheat is totally surrounding the old cemetery. We looked for a way to get into the cemetery, but no way other than walking through some farmer's crop. So we decided we would just wait until the wheat got combined down. Hopefully we can catch the time right before another crop gets put in the field. At least now I know where it is located.. Thanks muchly Peggy, Joan Broach Morris
