Here is what I know of him: 1. He married MARTHA C. TAYLOR (daughter of Smith K. & Rebecca Taylor) 14 January 1886 in DECATUR COUNTY TENNESSEE. 2. After they were married they came to BUTLER & DUNKLIN COUNTY MISSOURI. 3. He had either brothers or uncles named JOHN & JIM DOWDY. I don't know when he was born but he died in Missouri between 1893/1895. My Dowdy Family story is as follows: They were from Tennessee and they were moonshiners. One day someone stole the Dowdy still. The Dowdy's went after the person and shot them. The alleged shooting victim was said to be a lawman. After this my Dowdy's began leaving Tennessee. I do not know how much fact is in this story. Other surnames associated with my DOWDY/TAYLOR line are GULLEDGE & RIGGS. This four lines are supposedly intertwined in more ways than one!
