I am seeking information (really wish for an obit) on my grandfather Clifford L. Duke, buried in Corinth Cemetery, date of death 6-6-1936. He was the husband of Maudie Lee Newsom Duke. I know that it was an accident, my mother was 5 when he died and what I recall is that he was in the back end of a truck or something similar and was in an accident and had a skull fracture. I can't find an obit or any further info. Any info would be helpful. Only two of his children are left, they were small when he passed away and don't remember details either. I've combed the library but couldn't find anything. Thanks! Renee
Renee, Clifford Duke was my first cousin once removed. I can not help you with an obit but my mother, his first cousin was 25 yrs. old when he died. He was working with the TVA and riding in the back of a truck with a top on it when the truck hit a bump so hard that it threw Clifford up against the steel beams in the top of the cover. he struck his hesd on the beams causing a blood clot on his brain. this caused his death and was cofirmed by an autopsy paid for by his Uncle, James Newton Duke nicknamed "Newt" who was a brother to Clifford's father,John Thomas "Tom" Duke. This information comes from my mother, Odell Duke Brewer who is now 94 yrs.old.
