Earlier in the day I wrote "Frank Maness and Liddie Woods were second cousins." I was not paying attention and wrote this because each is in the 4th generation of the Hays family. However, both are on the same 2nd generation branch of the family, having the same grandfather. Thus they were first cousins. First cousin marriages were very common in this Hays family in the nineteenth century. David
