    2. VERIFY ALL INFORMATION BEFORE USING. Re: Robert A. Musgrove of Henderson CoTn and Nolan CoTx 27 Feb 1942, My Column by W.V. Barry, Lexington Progress, Henderson CoTn My knowledge of the newspaper business in Lexington, does not go further back than ROBERT A. MUSGROVE, who came here a stranger and married MISS DIXIE SMITH, sister of MRS. JENNIE WATSON. He got into a wrangle with a group on the whiskey question, the group buying him out after which he moved to SWEETWATER, TEXAS, where he died, leaving his wife and several children, who still live there. 22 Feb 1935 Lexington Progress, Henderson CoTn Very Old Lexington Paper J. L. GILLIAM, son of the late JIM GILLIAM, who was a respected citizen of Henderson County, brought to our office last Saturday, a well-preserved copy of the "Henderson County News", published in Lexington by R.A. MUSGROVE, dated August 8th, 1879, being volume 1, and No 21 of that paper. "Bob" Musgrove married DIXIE SMITH, daughter of the late JOHN AND EMELINE FULLER SMITH, and being between the time that he moved from LEXINGTON to SWEETWATER, TEXAS, where he died several years ago. . . . . Re: Homeplace of JOHN SMITH AND EMELINE E. FULLER SMITH 7 July 1933 Lexington Progress newspaper, "Last Installment-Lexington History" by W. V. Barry ........I shall now attempt to wind up the showing of Lexington as it was at end of Civil War 1865......from west corner of the Public Square, formerly known as Purdy Street, now known as Monroe, as it merges into the road leading to the old town of Purdy.........Next came the home of the late JAMES PINKSTON, a tailor........Then came the JOHN SMITH home, a two-story frame, which was torn down years ago by DR. W.T. WATSON, who married MISS JENNIE, a daughter of JOHN SMITH, who replaced it with a modern cottage........DR. WATSON and wife, with all of their children married and gone, except VAN, the youngest, who lives next door, and still occupy the house they built. [NOTES: See 1880 census, Henderson Co. TN, Lexington township, home after that of EMELINE E. FULLER SMITH was JIM PINKSTONE, tailor. Home before that of EMELINE E. FULLER SMITH was Wiliam Brook, his parents born Ireland. Emeline's husband John Smith was deceased before 1880 census.] Source: W. V. Barry's Lexington Progress 1884-1946, Brenda Fiddler, Editor, published 1995 You might be able to locate what is now currently on the site of the JOHN SMITH homeplace using the diagram on page 85 in the above source book in conjunction with businesses listed on page 83 which are located on the diagram of downtown Lexington, 1933, 1910 and 1860. Suggest you try to connect to descendants of Virginia "Jennie" SMITH Watson as they might have additional information to help you. Jennie was the youngest child of John SMITH and Emeline E. FULLER Smith. I believe their son W. Van Watson may have some connection to Watson Drug Store at one time on Public Square in Lexington. Maybe someone else can provide details on Watson family of Henderson CoTn. Hope this helps. re: your query     Robert and Dixie Musgrove are on the 1880 Henderson County, Tennessee census.  Robert was 24 and Dixie was 18.  This would indicate they were married about 1879 or early 1880.  In an article from "First 100 Years Nolan County, Texas" there is a Musgrove Family History.  It says R. A. Musgrove, Jr. was from Charlottesville, Virginia and settled in Sweetwater in the fall of 1882.  His wife was Dixie and they were parents of seven children.  It states that R. A. Musgrove, Sr. and a daughter named Mollie also settled there.      R. A. Musgrove, Jr. owned and published the "The Nolan County Record".      The children of Robert and Dixie Musgrove were: Roberta, Mary Emma, Doris, twins Mark and Leonard, Sidney, and Guy.      My interest in this family is through the Smith family. Dixie Smith was the daughter of John and Emeline E. (Fuller) Smith.
