Hello researchers, I am descended of William M. Martin b. 1826 NC d. 1870 Henderson Co TN. Henderson County TN, Deed Book #1, 1871-1873. Page #7: Lewis T. READ and Harriet E. READ sold to Mary MARTIN for $82.00 their interest in the land of William M. Martin, deceased. Registered 12-4-1871. Note: I believe that Mr. READ may actually by Mr. REID, and may have come from REIDSVILLE, NC originally. Further, I believe that William M. Martin b. 1826 NC may have also been from the same community. Reidsville, is in Rockingham Co NC, and is very close to Martinsville, VA. page 198-199: B. J. Young is named as one of the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, of Civil District 7. Note: I believe that B. J. Young is brother to Mary M. Young b. 1825 NC, the wife of William M. Cunningham b. 12-1829 Henderson Co TN. Father: Ransom Cunningham b. 1797 VA, arrived in Henderson Co TN 1825, died 1875. Mother: Sarah Rice b. 1804 NC Married: Mary Elizabeth YOUNG, d/o B.J. Young, b. 1838 Henderson Co TN. Note: B. J. Young is most likely the brother to my ancestor Mary M. YOUNG, Mrs. William M. Martin. A.B. Cunningham settled at 7th District, Henderson Co Tn, owned 1,000 acres, owned a grist Mill, and Cotton Gin, was member of Juno Lodge #43 Masonic, and a Methodist Episcopalian member. His kids were: John, Josella, Martha (m. John Gardner), and Walter Cunningham. Ranson Cunningham lived in District #10 from 1844 thru 1849. Note: the oldest son of William M. Martin and Mary M. Young, was George Wesley Martin, who married Martha Virginia Cunningham at Lexington, TN prior to their settling down in Navarro Co Texas.
