Re: John Smith and wife Emeline FULLER Smith of Henderson Co. TN. Does anyone know the identity of the parents of JOHN SMITH (b 1812 North Carolina) mentioned in the below? EXCERPT: "A Story of 1850-1851" by W. V. Barry, Lexington Progress, Friday, February 8, 1935 "Another matter mentioned by Esq. Threadgill was the fact that the late Mrs. Emerline Fuller Smith widow of the late John Smith and mother of Mrs. Jennie Watson, was a first cousin of the late Esq. James H. Fuller and that former outstanding citizen and Christian gentleman, who was the maternal grandfather of former Circuit Judge Watt H. Denison." ....the article continues about Esq. James H. Fuller. Thank you. Linda NOTES: Sometimes Judge Denison's name was spelled with one "n" and other times with 2 "n's". The information in "A Story of 1850-1851" plus other information, makes me certain that this EMERLINE (FULLER) SMITH was indeed the daughter of Jordan Fuller and Elizabeth CONYERS Fuller of Henderson Co. TN. On censuses of Henderson Co. TN, her first name was spelled Emeline. Emeline E. FULLER Smith was buried in Lexington City Cemetery, Lexington, Henderson Co. TN. Tombstone: Smith, E. E., 7/21/1827 - 10/24/1888, "Wife of John Smith" "Mother" (Old City) [Her obituary is in Crossing the Dark River by Brenda Fiddler.] John Smith, Tombstone: 2/12/1812 - 2/17/1876 buried Lexington City Cemetery (Old City) He died without a will, documents filed 1880, stated he died March 1876.
