Josiah was in Bedford county in 1830 and in Henderson county in 1840 according to the census. They moved with Wiley Johnson (probably the father of Josiah's wife, Nancy) and (I think) Wiley's son Benjamin Johnson. The three families were right next to each other in the 1840 Henderson census. Thomas, Josiah's son would have been 3 or 4 in 1836/37. Could be a brother or other relative of Josiah. There is also an Eli Morton, with family, in Hickory County MO at the same time as John Alexander Morton in 1850 census. He is of an age to be John's brother and there were brothers older than the younger Josiah and John in Josiah's family in the 1830 Bedford County TN census. I need to check and see if Eli is there in 1840. He is listed as b. in NC where the elder Josiah and his wife came from. Thank you for all the help. I had not found the Thomas Mortin you referenced in my searches.
