According to Census records, my David was born in TN. However, most of the other Rhodes families in Henderson County came from SC. I have been trying for several months now to see how or if my David ties in with the other families there. I'll certainly keep you in mind and let you know if I find any connection. We still may be related, as another family member was Elizabeth -Rhodes Griswell. She was the daughter of Christopher Rhodes and Judith Couch. We think she married John Griswell in South Carolina or Alabama and moved to Henderson Co., TN about 1835. Elizabeth was the sister of Rev William Rhodes. Any connections? Carollyn

Rhodes I am looking for would have been born about 1816. He first shows in the 1840 Census in Henderson County Tn with wife (Elizabeth), one son less than 5 years old (William Henry Harrison Rhodes), two daughters under five years old (Jane and Ellen Rhodes), and another, unidientified adult male (age 20-30). I do not see any tie-in with your David, but I will gladly share anything I have that may be of help to you. Thanks again.

Henderson County, TN is located about half way between Nashville and Memphis. My great grandfather was James Alexander (Jim Pat) Douglas. My great grandmother was Harriet Bray Douglas (Cherokee Indian). Bryant Douglas married to Abby Douglas owned the Douglas Cemetary and is buried there along with James Alexander, Harriet Bray Douglas, etc. My dad was Luther Ivy Douglas (Punk was his nickname). He was born March 22, 1903. My grandparents were W.H. Douglas and Mary Douglas. I've found records back to 1722 but can't seem to go any further back. After that I'm stuck.
