    1. [TNHENDER] Boyd Family Reunion
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Boyd, Butler, Bradford, Haywood, Hicks, Thomas, Norwood, Nordin, Sanders, Hatch, Noles, Ellis, Hampton, Cary Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AgB.2ACE/172 Message Board Post: The annual Boyd Family Reunion will be held Saturday, June 28, at the Cub Lake Recreation Lodge in Natchez Trace State Park from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Pack the whole family including grandma and the kids, and plan to spend the day. Don't forget your camera, family histories, old photos, and tall tales! Natchez Trace Park is on I-40 at Exit 116, in Tennessee about mid-way between Memphis and Nashville. The park is in the area settled by the original Boyds, Butlers and connected families who came to West Tennessee from North Carolina by wagon train in the early 1800's. For more information on Natchez Trace and its amenities, go to: http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/natchez/index.html Plans for a catered lunch have been cancelled in favor of continuing our tradition of sharing a pot-luck meal together. Just bring enough lunch for your own family group (and a little extra to share with others.) Lunch will be at noon. Sherman Glenn Boyd, a driving force in our annual gathering, was recently called to active duty. But for more information about this year's reunion, call Sherman's wife, Charlene in Atwood at (731) 662-7577; Bendell Boyd in Huntington (731) 986-8107; Pam Boyd in Lexington (731) 968-2352; John Boyd in Lexington (731) 968-4375 or Nathan Boyd in Jackson (731) 661-0858. Be sure to communicate with Charlene if you want to order sovenirs--her order needs to be in by March 31st. Please help spread the news about our reunion to Boyds who may not be on our e-mail or mailing lists. Hope to see you at the Trace on June 28th!

    2. David Donahue
    3. The cemetery pages for Chester, Decatur, Henderson, and Perry counties reside on the Henderson County school system file server. I discovered in January that Norton Personal Firewall does not like the school system server (for me it produces a 400 syntax error message) and will not access files there. Norton Personal Firewall must be disabled before cemetery and other web pages on the school system server can be displayed. I have had email from a person having a similar problem using another firewall program. I am trying to find out just how many people are having problems accessing the cemetery pages and what firewall software you you. So it you have experienced this problem, drop me a line.

    3. I have corrected links on both the Decatur and Perry Co TNGenWeb pages. Be sure to hit the refresh button, if needed in order to obtain the latest . I have been reworking the Separation Petition on 1845. It may be accessed from either Decatur or Perry Co. If you find links still not working, please let me know. I am going to begin sending email to all individual links (such as on old queries, surnames) to determine which are no longer correct email addresses. If you know yours is incorrect, please email me with correct address, surnames, and which county. I will begin working to put the 1820 Perry Co Census in table form. 3. http://members.tripod.com/don.mckinney/margaretletter.html This is just an FYI about an interesting letter I found where Margaret Ann (Delaney) Yeates wrote to her son John Wesley Yeates during the Civil War, about 1864. He was serving with the 10th TN Infantry, Union army. She tells of one of Forrest's raids (and the horses his band stole) and mentions several people who seem to have lived in the Doe Creek area. The letter was transcribed by one of her descendants, Don McKinney.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AgB.2ACE/153.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you so much for the information you provided for Edward Casey who was my husband's gg-grandfather. We have just started researching Edward after hearing about him from a Casey cousin. John Truman is my husband's g-grandfather. I have a copy of the Griffin Funeral Home record that was written up when John died and his mother's name is given as Sarah Burns. The complete name we have for her is Nancy Sarah Burns born in MS abt 1841 and died in Henderson County before 1870. It appears that John's daughter Mattie was the one who gave the information since her name appears on the record as the one responsible for his funeral bill. I appreciate your clue as to where Edward may be buried. My husband was unaware until just recently that John is buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Jackson. We have been there so many times trying to find gravesites for others, but had no clue any of his ancestors were buried there. Thank you again for your help.
