Are any of the Henderson County records or indexes of those records available on CD from any source? Thanks Brec

I will be unsubscribing for a few days. My Mother passed away at my home in AR. today, and I will be off-line until sometime early next week. Wilma Fields
I am tracking Josiah Morton, my ggggrandfather, and family and the trail is sparse and hard to follow. The last two counties, Bedford TN and Henderson TN, where I currently have indications of Josiah MORTON and Nancy JOHNSON living, suffered catastrophic losses of records in several courthouse fires each. I know Josiah and his wife, Nancy JOHNSON, were NC natives and gave birth to at least one son, John Alexander MORTON, in Wilson County, 14 Jun 1829. A Josiah MORTON shows up in the 1830 Bedford County TN Census Pg. 51, living next door to Wiley Johnson, who may be Nancy's father or other close relative. The households are as follows: Wiley Johnson 1001110100000 2015001000000 Josiah Morton 2100010000000 3100100000000 The same pair of families are found in the 1840 Henderson County TN Census Pg 20. An additional family is added here, living between the two. Wyley C Johnson 0000000010000 0000000010000 Benjamin(e) Johnson 0110010000000 2100100000000 Josiah Morton 0220001000000 1111010000000 It seems as though Benjamin and his family were living in the household of Wiley JOHNSON in the 1830 Census along with some other family members who are no longer present in 1840. In the 1850 Henderson County TN Census District 7 Pg165 (329 handwritten) Two Josiah MORTON households are listed on the same page: 107Josiah Morton 23M_Farmer_Tenn Nancy do 25F_ _ _Tenn John " 3M_ _ _ Tenn 111Josiah Morton 51M_Farmer_NC Nancy do 49F_ _ _NC Adeline " 18F_ _ _Tenn Thomas " 16M_Farmer_Tenn Robert " 13M_ _ _Tenn Martha " 10F_ _ _Tenn Jane " 8 F_ _ _Tenn Assuming that the younger Josiah is one of the two young males in the 1830 census household of the elder Josiah, the other might be, and probably is, John Alexander MORTON,my gggrandfather who, at 21, is living in Hickory County MO in 1850 per census records. Can anyone provide further information on these families, based on all of the names from the censuses. Any connections or clues would be appreciated. I am especially interested in anything that will lead to birth places and parents of the elder Josiah MORTON and Nancy JOHNSON or concrete proof that the people in these censuses are actually the parents of John Alexander MORTON. Thank you in advance for even wading through all this data. Brec Morton, Kansas City

Peggy These Carrolls you mentioned are my Carrolls. Our Samuel Carroll in South Carolina was killed in the Rev. War. Samuels wife Margaret Leslie, was the daughter of John Leslie and Mary Hutchison. Mary Hutchison was the sister Elizabeth Hutchison mother of Andrew Jackson. The John William Carroll of Henderson County, who wrote of his Civil War experience is the son of William M. Carroll the brother to John S. Carroll who married Elizabeth D. McBride, whom I seek more information. These Carroll's who first settled in South Carolina, received their grant of land from William Prince of Orange. I will go back to the census again. Thanks
This sometime back from David D. Because increasing numbers of people cannot access the Henderson County school system file server, I am moving the cemetery web pages to the Tennessee Records Repository and the TNGenWeb file server. Everything loaded after today will only appear on the new web site http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/cemeteries/index.html The new site has an October 2003 update of Lexington Cemetery. With the 2003 version of Lexington Cemetery, the formatting including that for dates has been changed to make reading the information easier. Like in 1991, the information is presented in HTML by cemetery section and in merged form. It also is available as a Word97 file which you can download to print your own paper copy (172 pages). It may take a couple of months to move all the files, so the new Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Records page has a return link to the old page. All Chester County Cemeteries have moved http://www.tngenweb.org/records/chester/cemeteries/index.html All Perry County Cemeteries have moved http://www.tngenweb.org/records/perry/cemeteries/index.html David
Not a Carroll/McBride researcher but do have a note that Jesse McBride was a member of Jack's Creek Baptist Church, if Jesse (household #42) turns out to be the father of Elizabeth (household #47 1850 census). Also that Jesse's son Thomas G was in Co C 6th TN Cav USA. Also have a note on a Capt John W Carroll from some Civil War bios. Jn W b. 1841 in Henderson Co, son of Wm Carroll and grandson Joseph Carroll from SC to Lincoln Co about 1806 (son of Rev War soldier who came to America about 1770); Joseph was soldier at the Battle of New Orleans; John W was in Kentucky a year after the Civil War; married 1871 Mary S Galbraith; his son was Thomas B Carroll. (Probably isn't connected but who knows.) PSH At 08:43 AM 1/6/2004 -0600, you wrote: >Does any one have information on the family of Elizabeth D. McBride who >married John S. Hi Bessie, David Donahue is moving his cemetery listings page to : http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/cemeteries/index.html Some people were having problems accessing them on the Henderson County Schools web site. According to David's earlier memo, all new updates will be posted to the tngenweb site only. You can still get around pretty well to all the sites from his "Yesterday" Henderson County history site which is here: http://www.henderson-lea.hc.k12tn.net/donahue/he-stuff/yester.htm Jerry Cary -----Original Message----- From: Bessie Turley [mailto:turley@usit.net] Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2004 6:58 AM To: TNHENDER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNHENDER] NEED INFO!! I am new to the list and interested in any information about the Burkhart and Roberts folks that were in the county in around 1800. These were part of the families that migrated on to the Ozarks a few years later. I am most interested in T.J. and Dolly Burkhart; and anything on other Burkhart and Roberts folks.
