    3. Hi Ed!!! "Where did you get this info?", she says with exclamation in her voice! :o) This is a MAJOR breakthrough! YES!!! This is the person I am searching for and you have confirmed my theory. Do you have proof of this? Where did you get the information that Mollie's mother was an ESSRY? Was this from her death certificate? Do you have a copy of her death certificate? If so, can you please scan it and send it to me??!!! I've been told this by some others, but have never found any documents that prove this. Please hurry and write me back! :o) I have been searching and searching for a looong time to try and determine who Sarah "Sally" UKNOWN-JORDAN was. Poor thing.....She married at a very young age and was pregnant constantly until her husband died in 1859. She was probably pregnant when he died. I know she must have had a very rough life and I know nothing about her. Do you descend from this line? Thanks so much for writing! This is exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you hear me hollering all the way from central Illinois? Yippee!!! 3. Does anyone have access to any kind of death records? I really, really, really need to find a death record for the following couple who was enumerated in the 1920 Henderson Co, TN, census. p21A, CD 1 (Part of Old 7th Dist), on Jackson Rd, 15-16 January 1920 88 90 JOHNSON Isaac L head rents m w 66 m TN NC NC Mollie L wife f w 60 m TN TN NC I'm primarily interested in "Mollie" who I think may have been Martha L JORDAN and was previously married to a LAMPLEY. I cannot find the above couple in the 1930 census and I cannot find a death record for them online in the Henderson Co cemetery records. Anyone have any ideas where they might be buried? This is really important to me. I'm hoping to find Mollie's death record to determine the maiden name of her mother. Thanks! They are in the current format and will not need a format change as part of the update. David

I haven't worked on this family for a while, so will have to look over my records for specific dates, etc. But from what I can find, it appears to me that William, Henry, Nicholas and possibly Benjamin Beauchamp are brothers. Right now, the name Daniel doesn't seem familiar to me. Nicholas was born about 1802 in N.C. or S.C., according to census records. He married Mary King 12 Oct 1825 in Morgan Co., Alabama. He was on the census records of Henderson and McNairy counties in Tennesse. Later they moved to Howell Co., Missouri. I would be interested in exchanging info on this family. Judy

    2. Re: Mt. Carmel Cem. page 74 of Henderson Co TN cemeteries by R. H. Harris, published 1979 Does anyone know if the name change for the old Milam Cemetery, now known as Mt. Carmel, had anything to do with Mt. Carmel Methodist Episcopal Church South? Does anyone know location or what happened to Mt. Carmel Methodist Episcopal Church South? I found this: Deed Book II, 1873-1875 July 11, 1872 JAMES H. MILAM and wife CATHERINE conveyed 2 ACRES to J.B. Ballew, Z. Bevill, Giles Waller, James A. Bobbit, Henry Lesenberry, TRUSTEES of Mt. Carmel Methodist Episcopal South. Maybe you recognize some of these trustees. JAMES H. MILAM and wife CATHERINE were buried in this cemetery. >From my reading, it is my understanding that around1939, the Methodist Episcopal Church South became Methodist Church or was merged into Methodist Church. 1. Re: [TNHENDER] Martin family NC>TN>TX

    3. Thanks for the reply and info. According to the 1860 census at Henderson Co TN, my Martin Family lived at house #675. At house #682 is Ranson Cunningham 64 yrs b. VA, and his wife Sarah, 56yrs, b. VA. At house #683 is R. B. Cunningham 28yrs, b. TN and wife E.J. 24 yrs, b. TN. I am only guessing that George Wesley Martin b. 1849 NC, living at house # 675 married Martha Virginia Cunningham, d/o R.B. in house #683. I am basing this guess on the fact they were neighbors, and the fact that Martha states on the 1880 census both she and her parents are born in TN. So this is guesswork, now. My Martin family are from North Carolina, but lived in Henderson Co TN from 1855 to 1878, and then moved permanently to Navarro Co TX. When they left as an entire group in 1878 for Texas, they consisted of 4 complete households, who all moved together. All with the surname of Martin and all related. By the way, in 1880 census at Navarro Co TX, all 4 of the MARTIN households are listed, and they are the ONLY Martin families there at that time. www.familysearch.org Type in Martin, then hit refine search, until you put in Navarro Co TX only. I am going to visit your webpage and check your names, thanks again for replying with info. 1. Re: [TNHENDER] Martin family NC>TN>TX
    2. Lilly
    3. Gene, Great to hear from you. You were the first person to really help me with my Campbell family of Stephens Co OK as of 1900 census there (Comanche). At first I thought my Martin family were Cherokee Indian originating in NC then expelled to TN then further expelled to TX. The migration pattern and the years, follow the Indian Migration pattern to a "T". However, the 1860 census in TN says they are White. My older brother told me our grandfather was a TEXAS INDIAN. This story was given to him from our father, but as I now know the Martin line begins in North Carolina as of 1820 or earlier, then to TN as of 1855 to 1878, then out to Navarro Co TX as of 1879. Maybe they only "Called" themselves white by the time they got to TN. I have no idea at all. When my brother heard the story of "Texas Indian" this would have to mean an "Eastern Indian", who arrived in Texas later. As opposed to a Tribe of Native Americans, who had always been present in Texas. The other possiblity is: #1. My Martin family has no Indians in it, just white immigrants for Ireland and England., etc. #2. My Martin family intermarried with Cherokee people in North Carolina, and therefor is a mixture of White and Indian, which probably is the case for most of the early setler families of VA and NC. I think #2 possibility is probably more of the true story, but time will tell. When checking the civil war soldiers of TN, I found one listed as James N. Martin, which could be the oldest son of my family, James Nathaniel Martin b. 1837 NC. If that is him, he fought on the Union side. I hope to find out more about my Martin family in Henderson Co TN the years of 1855 to 1878, originating in North Carolina, and finally moving to Texas. Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin d/o Billy Joe Martin b. 1925 Duncan, OK. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gene Phillips" <genephillips@usa.net> To: <TNHENDER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2004 12:31 AM Subject: Re: [TNHENDER] Martin family NC>TN>TX > Hi Lilly, > I've got kin that were in Henderson County too. A lot had moved on by 1860 though. For some reason the ones that left went to Oregon County MO. There were Phillips and Blankenship mostly. I think Stubblefield also. My Mills family came from Carroll County directly to the north.
