My James Madison Hart b. 1852, so far the closest I found was a J.M. Hart living in Scotts Hill, Tn at age 8 living with Smith Family. I have been trying to find info on the Madison and Alexander but hadn't found them even close to this James. The only thing I know for 100% certain is that my James Madison Hart with wife is living in Gibson Co, Tn at Walnut Grove. The reason I think my J.M Hart is the same one as the J.M Hart in Scotts Hill, Tn is that is the place the his wife Emily E. Ethridge and her family is from...her parents are William A. Ethridge mother is Lucy Chalk...his 2nd wife is Vicey Hamm. thanks for helping, Amanda

Does anyone know what is in the 2005 calendar offered by "The Lexington Progress", Lexington, TN? Does it have scenes or people of Henderson Co. TN? The article said "Progess" was publishing 2,200 and I believe it is free by picking up at the newspaper's office. I just received my newspaper and it usually takes about 2 weeks for me to get the most recent edition. I have misplaced the email address of the newspaper, otherwise I would have emailed directly. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving ya'll. Linda, So. CA

So there are 2 men with the name of GROVER CLEVELAND SUMLER and they both fought in World War I and they were born within 2 years of each other and likely both were born in ?TN. What a coincidence. 1) Grover Cleveland SUMLER b 11 Nov 1892 in unknown; d 23 Oct 1918 in ?TN; buried Union Grove Cemetery (military marker) ?Henderson Co. TN and 2) your ancestor: Grover Cleveland SUMLER b 29 Nov 1894 in ?TN; d 1933 Wisconsin 1923 Feb 14 married Vader Voy DUKE in Madison Co. TN 1925 Dec 01 born your grandmother in Jackson, Madison Co TN, d/o Cleveland & Vader Sumler Email the Tennessee room of Jackson/Madison Co. TN Library and ask staff to check available newspapers for marriage 01 DEC 1925. Marriage announcement may list parents of both. Death certificate of your Grover Cleveland SUMLER may list his parents. Check online website of random acts of genealogical kindness, http://www.raogk.com, to see if a volunteer can check death index of Wisconsin for him and perhaps even look up death certificate to see if his parents were listed. I also found this death: SUMLER, W. S., b 2 Dec 1849; d 22 Dec 1923; buried Jacks Creek Cem., (which I believe is now in Chester Co. TN, but once was in Henderson Co. TN) father: W. L. SUMLER, born NC person reporting death: Willie SUMLER SOURCE: works of Jonathan Smith The 1920 census will probably help answer some of your questions. Ask for census lookup on Madison Co. TN message board on www.rootsweb.com and also ask for lookup on Chester Co. TN message board for Grover Cleveland SUMLER, b 1894. If I say SUMLER using my southern drawl, I can easily get SUMMER from it, so maybe something to consider when searching to check for a Grover Cleveland Summer /Sumer. Some census recorders were poor spellers. Good luck. FROM YOUR EMAIL: My Grover Cleveland Sumler was born 29 Nov 1894, but I don't know where or who his parents were. He married Vader Voy Duke 14 Feb 1923. And my grandmother was born 1 Dec 1925 in Jackson, Madison, TN. He was in WWII when he lost a leg. He died later in 1933 in a Wisconsin VA Hospital. There's another Grover Cleveland Sumler who was a World War I vet, and was wounded. He was born 11 Nov 1892, and died 23 Oct 1918. He's buried at Union Grove Cemetery w/ a military marker. I'm not sure if they are related.
