Ellis Clayton Hayes was b. 24 Aug 1880, d. 06 Jun 1947. He was the son of John Bateman and Nancy Ann Wilkinson. John Bateman was the son of Samuel M. "Stob Foot" and Malinda Pufford Hays. Stob Foot was the son of Samuel Ellett and Martha B. "Patsy" Davis Hays. A copy of the book "History of the Hays Family" is in the Library in Lexington. This was published several years ago by Freda and Lincoln Hays, and they have made a couple of updates to the book since original publishing. It is no longer in publication. The Alexander line was researched several years ago by Margaret Smith Alexander and Fred her husband. They conducted a very thorough research on our Alexander line. I have complete research of both of these lines. Still waiting to hear from you in private. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mnevin2004@cocmast.net> To: <TNHENDER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 31, 2005 2:54 PM Subject: [TNHENDER] Hayes line/ Alexander > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Alexander, Hayes > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AgB.2ACE/270 > > Message Board Post: > > I am trying to find out if John Bateman Hayes, grandson of Sam E Hayes, > had a son named Ellis Clayton Hayes. > > I also need in fo on Ellis' wife, Teaner (?) Hi Kathy, I printed your email out so let me look at my database on the Austins and see what I have that may be different. Do you know if Minerva had a middle name? I had a Suzanne down married to a Kennedy. I believe there were a few other children, Does Matilda who married a Mooney, a Dorothy Ann or a Laura Ann sound familiar. My grandmother is also still alive so I will call her tonight and ask her a few more questions. Do you live in the Henderson area of Tennessee? You are one of only a few that I have talked to looking at this line. I will most certainly want your information to add to my database and I can email you the lineage I have as well. I have a couple of other contacts I can check with as well. Thanks. Karen
You have given me two more generations that I didnt have..I went back as far as Richard being Jerimaiah father..I am the great-granddaughter of John Shade the son of Minerva Jane Austin and Hugh Kennedy.. Any thing I can get will help me on my line...I do have a question.....On John Shades death cirtificate it shows his mother as Sarah Austin and all other information I have says it is Minerva. Do you have anything on this line? Will share anything I have if you will let me know what you need and I will see if I have it....I also saw where there is a new book coming out on Scotts Hill and I am interested in finding where I can get it.. I am looking for a line of Austins with a Noble Austin who lived in/around the Piedmont MO area. This was my grandfather, who supposedly had many brothers that spread and settled in different states. However...my father's name was Charles, and his brother named Richard after their grandfather and great uncle....this makes me curious. Noble Austin 2-19-1906 to January 1984, buried in Wayne County, MO Thanks, Renee ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rachelle65@aol.com> To: <TNHENDER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 29, 2005 4:42 PM Subject: Re: [TNHENDER] Re: Scotts Hill, Henderson Co, TN >I came from William, John, Richard, Jeremiah Jerry, and Pleasant Austin. >I > am not sure which Charles you are referring to? Richards father John children were: Richard, Bryant, John, Jacob, Jonanathan, Micheal, and Drury. John father was William Austin whos chilren were: John, Charles, Richard, Sarah, and Molly. Jimmy, something you might want to try is to contact the correspondent who writes the BLUE GOOSE community column in The Lexington Progress newspaper, Lexington, HeCoTn. Her name may be WILMA COGDELL. At least that is name on a recent Blue Goose column that I have in my scrapbook under Blue Goose. Ms. Cogdell might write about your quest in her column (probably for FREE). I read this column ever issue of the "Progess" as that area is of prime interest to me. I read in Blue Goose column that many of the people who live in that area get together at Poplar Springs Cafe. Also, the Blue Goose correspondent writes about history of that area sometimes as well as its people (from your query, you wrote, WALTER H. WILKINS: "he ran a store/resturant in the Blue Goose area"). If you get the locals talking, you may find a contact. I don't have Ms. Cogdell's address, but below is an email I used to contact the editor of The Lexington Progress, try it to see if "Progress" staff can put you in contact with Blue Goose correspondent. By the way, give "Progess" staff time to contact you, they are sometimes slow. email: The Lexington Progress newspaper, Lexington, TN Lexprogressnews@bellsouth.net If above email address no longer works for "Progress", then visit www.switchboard.com to find "Progress" address and telephone number. Also, while you are on website of switchboard, might want to search your WILKINS surname, you may spot a relative, just never know. Hope this helps, Linda your query: "I am looking for information on Walter H Wilkins. He was born in May 1880.
