However, for those who aren't familiar with it, <http://terraserver-usa.com/ > is a very helpful and illuminating site, especially if you have the latitude and longitude coordinates. Thanks.

What can you tell me about the church and cemetery? I was given a link that tied to a black cemetery there. Are they the same? My great-grandfather purportedly was from Henderson County, so that sounds rather feasible.

    1. Hampton, Franklin, John, and Richard Williams in Henderson County TN !850-1870
    2. Brec Morton
    3. I am interested in finding out more about the following Williams men in Henderson County, TN. Found in the US census from 1850 through at least 1870. Particularly Hampton Williams b.circa 1823 in VA. In all the censuses his wife is listed as Mary A. b. VA. In his household in 1850 (Henderson County, Dist 7), there is a Nancy Johnson who may be his Mother-In-Law. I think she may be the wife of Wiley Johnson who was in the 1840 census in the same area. Does anyone have any further information about this family? I think they are related to the two Josiah Morton's located on the same page of the 1850 census through the elder Josiah Morton b. circa 1799 and his wife Nancy Johnson, b.circa 1801, who I believe to be the daughter of Wiley. The other male Williams on the same page are: Franklin -85 b. VA, wife Ann John -60 b. VA, wife Nancy Richard -24(?) b. NC, wife Nancy Issac (hard to read ?) -22 b. NC unmarried and living with John John -20 b. NC unmarried and living with John I would like to find out more about this Williams family and any information you might have about their Johnson and Morton relatives (?). Thanks for looking. And happy searching. Brec Morton Kansas City

    1. Josiah Morton, John Alexander Morton, Nancy Johnson, Wiley Johnson-NC & TN
    2. Brec Morton
    3. I am tracking Josiah Morton, my ggggrandfather, and family and the trail is sparse and hard to follow. The last two counties, Bedford TN and Henderson TN, where I currently have indications of Josiah MORTON and Nancy JOHNSON living, suffered catastrophic losses of records in several courthouse fires each. I know Josiah and his wife, Nancy JOHNSON, were NC natives and gave birth to at least one son, John Alexander MORTON, in Wilson County, 14 Jun 1829. A Josiah MORTON shows up in the 1830 Bedford County TN Census Pg. 51, living next door to Wiley Johnson, who may be Nancy's father or other close relative. The households are as follows: Wiley Johnson 1001110100000 2015001000000 Josiah Morton 2100010000000 3100100000000 The same pair of families are found in the 1840 Henderson County TN Census Pg 20. An additional family is added here, living between the two. Wyley C Johnson 0000000010000 0000000010000 Benjamin(e) Johnson 0110010000000 2100100000000 Josiah Morton 0220001000000 1111010000000 It seems as though Benjamin and his family were living in the household of Wiley JOHNSON in the 1830 Census along with some other family members who are no longer present in 1840. In the 1850 Henderson County TN Census District 7 Pg165 (329 handwritten) Two Josiah MORTON households are listed on the same page: 107Josiah Morton 23M_Farmer_Tenn Nancy do 25F_ _ _Tenn John " 3M_ _ _ Tenn 111Josiah Morton 51M_Farmer_NC Nancy do 49F_ _ _NC Adeline " 18F_ _ _Tenn Thomas " 16M_Farmer_Tenn Robert " 13M_ _ _Tenn Martha " 10F_ _ _Tenn Jane " 8 F_ _ _Tenn Assuming that the younger Josiah is one of the two young males in the 1830 census household of the elder Josiah, the other might be, and probably is, John Alexander MORTON,my gggrandfather who, at 21, is living in Hickory County MO in 1850 per census records. Can anyone provide further information on these families, based on all of the names from the censuses. Any connections or clues would be appreciated. I am especially interested in anything that will lead to birth places and parents of the elder Josiah MORTON and Nancy JOHNSON or concrete proof that the people in these censuses are actually the parents of John Alexander MORTON. Thank you in advance for even wading through all this data. Brec Morton, Kansas City

    1. Lebanon Cemetery
    2. Ed Adams
    3. The old Lebanon Cemetery, located on Hwy. 69 between Milledgeville and Saltillo, TN, has been platted out and the grave markers have been placed in a grid with a grid map showing their approximately location in the cemetery. This project only contains those graves contained in the old original section, the section that is bounded by Lebanon Cemetery Rd. and the drive around the cemetery. This project had been copied and bound in a book form containing over five hundred (500) grave markers, printed on thirty six (36) pages and printed on two sides. The book contains a list of grave markers with the names listed in alphabetical order as well as a list with the names in chronological order by grid and grave number. The book also contains a short history of the cemetery, photocopy of deeds, articles from the Savannah Courier, photographs and a list of others who have been reported as being buried in the cemetery but no grave marker now exist. For those who are research their family history, this will give you a clue as who is buried near to your family member and a possibility of their relationship. If you might be interested in a copy please contact me off the list at: eadams2784@united.net. ----------------------- Ed Adams See My Home Page at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adams1895

Here is what I know of him: 1. He married MARTHA C. TAYLOR (daughter of Smith K. & Rebecca Taylor) 14 January 1886 in DECATUR COUNTY TENNESSEE. 2. After they were married they came to BUTLER & DUNKLIN COUNTY MISSOURI. 3. He had either brothers or uncles named JOHN & JIM DOWDY. I don't know when he was born but he died in Missouri between 1893/1895. My Dowdy Family story is as follows: They were from Tennessee and they were moonshiners. One day someone stole the Dowdy still. The Dowdy's went after the person and shot them. The alleged shooting victim was said to be a lawman. After this my Dowdy's began leaving Tennessee. I do not know how much fact is in this story. Other surnames associated with my DOWDY/TAYLOR line are GULLEDGE & RIGGS. This four lines are supposedly intertwined in more ways than one! Or at least that is what I was told. If anyone has any info on this Dowdy family I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Angie
