Lanita, might try searching your names in several "Miscellany...." by Jonathan Smith under Miscellaneous section, there is an index for each "Miscellany...", but sometimes the page numbers in the index do not correspond with information at: http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/ There is a lot of early information about individuals in these "Miscellany...." Have you checked slave owner records of 1850 and 1860 on website of Henderson Co. TN? Also check early land grants of Tennessee. There is a book "Tennessee Land Grants" by Barbara, Byron, and Samuel Sistler, Nashville, TN, that lists name, grant #, number of acres, etc. I don't have easy access to this book and I only have title of Volume I as that is where my ancestor's names were listed and it was only volume I checked, it is for surnames A-K, so there must be other volumes. Do google search or try search catalog on website of Tennessee State Library and Archives, Nashville, TN. Some genealogical libraries have this book. I found the book at the Huntington Beach, Orange County, California library. If Tennessee State Library has this book, then you might be able to have a volunteer for Davidson Co. TN do look up in it for you, www.raogk.org. Could be that Sistler is still selling these volumes, also. If you find grant #, then you can order copy of land grant from Tennessee State Library and Archives or order microfilm for that grant from Mormon Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT. your message: James SMITH [b. bef 1789 in VA] who d. bef. 1860 in probably Henderson Co., TN. Mary, I just realized this morning that I should check cemeteries of Henderson Co. TN by David Donahue to see if he had resurveyed the Sardis Cemetery. See below for additional CRABB. In David's cemeteries, burials are alphabetized; and in cemeteries by Harris, burials were usually recorded by rows, often other family members with different last names but related to a person can be found easier in the Harris book. Families were sometimes buried near each other. I noted that one of the people below was a Mason, if this is your family, you might be able to find a record through the Tennessee Masons state organization in Nashville for him. The below is how the names appear on cemeteries by David Donahue. Source http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/cemeteries/sardis.htm (There is a photograph of Sardis Cemetery on the Internet record.) Crabb, James, 1797-1858, "Rev." Mary, regarding WELLBORN/CRABB, sometimes events (i.e. deaths, births) of people living in Henderson Co. TN were mentioned in early newspapers of Madison Co. TN. Visit below website to see if any of your names are there. Sections on the website are generally in alphabetical order, scroll down screen after it opens to newspaper abstracts section. http://www.tngenweb.org/records/madison/ Also, check newspaper links under section: "Files Formerly at Madison County TNGenWeb now Elsewhere in Records" the Nashville Christian Advocate newspaper and the Western Weekly Review. There is an index for each of these newspapers. I have found lots of information for my ancestors in Henderson Co. TN in the above early newspapers, some big, big breakthroughs. Also, check the all "Miscellany..." by Jonathan Smith under section "Miscellaneous" on Henderson Co. TN at: http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/ There are some early records in some of these "Miscellany..." There are indexes in each one, but I found some of the names indexed don't correspond to the page listed in the index. Good luck.
