Thank you, Peggy. It was just a thought that maybe all of them died and were buried without anyone to provide markers, since none of them show up in any of the Henderson County cemeteries. It is probably the case that the young women married and maybe the parents just got missed in the 1860 census. Maybe I will still find them. Could be the indexers just read the names wrong and I haven't hit on the right combination to pull them up. I have gone through the entire 1860 Henderson county census and they are not here in 1860 (unless they were just missed). Brec ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peggy S. I have lost an entire family from the 1850 census. I may have found 2 of the brothers in KY in 1860 but the parents and the three daughters are missing. It is possible that the parents died of old age or other "normal" cause since they would have been in their late 50s and early sixties and the daughters could be married and I just can't find them. I was just wondering if there was a cholera or other epidemic in the 1850s in Henderson county? And if there was, is there someplace where victims would have been recorded? Thanks Brec Morton

BROWER My Leander Brower Family which arrived in Henderson County in 1830 consisted of 11 children by 1850. Nine lines have been followed and documented, the two missing are ladies. Sarah E. Brower and two son's in the 1870 census has haunted me for years. I have followed Sarah and son William through the 1870 census. At that time Sarah Bower was living in the household of Henry and Mary Miller. Sometime after the 1880 census, Sarah Brower, finally remarried to B, F. McClaren. In 1900, Dessie Brower, William Henry Brower's daughter is reflected in her household, with William two household's away. 1910 Sarah Brower McClaren was living with William Henry Brower and his children, Dressie 16, John B. 15 and Biffie 9. She was once again a widow. 1930, Chester, William Henry Brower married to Ada appears with daughter Dorothy. Son John B. Brower next door. Researching this family I have learned if you pay attention to the census information. There is a problem with the birth date listed on William Henry Brower's headstone. Birth date should be 1861. Per Headstone information: William Henry Brower, born October 4, 1865 and died October 27, 1930, he lived in Chester County and is buried in Unity Cemetery in Chester. Death Certificate Information: Brower, W.H. Chester County, TN 10/27/1930 22338 William Henry Brower. His father was listed as J. W. Brower, Mother was listed as Sarah McClarin. So informant J. B. Brower was not aware of his grandmother's maiden name While these are not members of The Leander Brower Family of Henderson County. I sincerely, hope the reasearch in this area would be helpful to someone. Unity Cementery W.H Brower Oct. 4, 1865 Oct. 27, 1930 Susan Brower Oct. 10, 1866 March 15, 1903 Dessie I. Dear List, --My "brick wall Mom" is Sarah (Unknown) GARLAND. --Sarah (Unknown) was born abt. 1766 in NC --She married Jesse GARLAND abt. 1783 probably in Washington Co., NC/TN. Jesse was born abt. 1760 in Halifax Co., NC. --In 1790 Jesse GARLAND was on the Pendleton Co., SC census and owned land there --By 1798 they were in Davidson Co., TN where Jesse owned land --Abt. 1826, Jesse and Sarah moved to Henderson Co., TN, the 15th District -- to the area that is now a part of the Natchez Trace Park --In 1830, Jesse is on the Henderson Co., TN census. Also on this census are the William HUIE and Martin LEONARD families. --Jesse died abt. 1838 in Henderson Co. -- burial place is unknown --Sarah died abt. 1843 in Henderson Co. -- burial place is unknown --Jesse and Sarah had 10 children. Several moved to Henderson Co. with their parents in the late 1820s to early 1830s. The children were: 1. Martha Patsy GARLAND, m. William HUIE, moved first to Perry Co., later to Henderson Co., and finally to Van Buren Co., AR 2. Sarah GARLAND, m. Robert LOVELL, moved to Henderson Co. and remained there 3. Ferabee HOOPER possibly in Henderson Co., he later moved to KY --In 1840 Henderson Co. census, the Robert LOVEL, William HUIE, Martin LEONARD families are listed. The William HUIE family includes a female aged 60-70 who could possibly be Sarah (Unknown) GARLAND. --In 1850 Henderson Co. census, Sarah LOVEL (wife of Robert) family is listed. I am searching for: 1. Sarah (Unknown)'s maiden name 2. Burial places of Jesse and Sarah (Unknown) GARLAND 3. Information on the HUIEs, LOVELLs, and LEONARDs mentioned above Thank you for your assistance and I think that this is a wonderful Mothers' Day idea! Linda Garland Hayes

Hi Rita, My name is Steve Scott and from the Henderson Co. mail list I picked you to ask about the PRATOR family. I don't have much, but my fathers cousin Hortense married an Olin PRATOR. I know very little about them, the may have been married in OK, maybe not. When I knew them in the 1950's they were in Antioch (east bay area) of CA. They had one son, Lloyd, who I think may have been born in mid '40's. I know this is a long shot but I thought I'd toss it out and see wht happens. Perhaps you may know others that may be able to use this little bit of info. If so, feel free to pass my email.
