I research SINGLETONs because they inter-married through many generations and lines with my GOFF/GOUGH/GAWFs (who are really BARLOWs) so I keep hoping they'll give me a clue. I will send you more information if you would like to e-mail me privately. http://www.tngenweb.org/records/henderson/cemeteries/chapel-h.htm CHAPEL HILL CEMETERY Chapel Hill Cemetery, an antebellum cemetery still in use today, is located behind Chapel Hill Baptist Church at the intersection of State Highway 200 and Horton Road. It is very well maintained and is growing rapidly. Both the exact age of the cemetery and the number of unmarked graves are difficult to estimate because fieldstones common in cemeteries of this age have been removed. A number of markers noted as fallen in 1995 have been remounted and many older markers have been cleaned recently. However, during the 1976-2003 period the cemetery lost several markers in the oldest area. David Donahue recorded this cemetery October 9 and November 24, 1995 and checked and updated it November 19, 2003. Alicia Adcock, Anita Webb, and Jimmy Williams recorded this cemetery circa 1976. Their record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (R. H. Harris, Memphis, 1976), Vol. II, pp. 327-340. Middleton, Annie S., 1893-1974 Middleton, James H., 1891-1966 Middleton, Mae, Feb. 28, 1911-July 17, 1926 [replacement; adjacent to double marker for Annie S. and James H. I believe the 1910 census indicates that James Harvey Barker was a Union soldier. This would be reasonable since two of his brothers were in the 7th TN Cav USA but I do not see a James Harvey or James H or Harvey Barker in Tennesseans in the Civil War. Do you have a unit for him? The Scotts Hill Methodist Church has invited descendants of Romulus and Sarah Salina Swift to attend a memorial service on May 7th at 11. Romulus was a founder of the church. As a descendant of Romulus and Sarah, I ask than anyone who receives this post and is a descendant, or is simply just interested, attends the service so we can visit and share what information we have. I understand there will also be a "probably potluck" dinner at 12:15. Who among us doesn't remember Decoration Days like those when we were growing up in the hills of Tennessee? Thanks and hope to see you there, Jane Watson Ellis A self-appointed family historian and proud of it. You can check out my family's history at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hookersbend/
