Hello all.. Spent some time this week at Old Jacks Creek Cemetery & Church. This is a very neat and well kept cemetery and a nice old church. Several photos and extended family information are included. This Cemetery and Church is exactly on the Henderson / Chester county line so I'm going to post it on both my Henderson and Chester county websites. http://genealogytrails.com/tenn/chester/ http://genealogytrails.com/tenn/henderson/ I didn't find the "Morris" family headstones, which were what I was looking for, so I'll take another trip out there next week and take a closer look.. There are MANY stones that are totally eroded and unreadable.. PLUS they were having a funeral the day I chose to do this... I couldn't stay long... I will also try to find the pastor of the church and find out if there is any recorded history of the church. It appears to have been there for a very long time.. Below is a website that shows aerial locations of some businesses, churches, schools, streams, cemeteries etc. in Henderson CoTn and for other counties and states. It sometimes identifies the place or building as historical. I thought some of you might find it helpful. I was able to find 2 listings for Prospect Church, which I had been trying to find. Now to try to figure out which church is around 4 miles north of Lexington, TN. http://www.clocations.com/ cLocations After the website opens, click county at near top of screen, click Tennessee, click Henderson County. Forgot to suggest you contact funeral homes in Lexington, TN. The two I know about are Pafford's and Reed. You should be able to find their telephone numbers online at www.switchboard.com. re: I am seeking a county Death Index lookup, Please search for sadie Swindle( Cunningham) I am not sure of living or deceased, but check your death index for 1987-2000, Sadie s last residence in Tennessee, was Sardis. if anyone can search, I would be most appreciative, Sadie s mother name was Eva Cunningham
Check website of www.jacksonsun.com, it may have obituary online. Obituaries for some people of Henderson Co. TN (including Sardis, TN) are sometimes printed in The Jackson Sun newspaper, Jackson, Madison Co. TN. I believe obituaries on the Jackson Sun website go back to 2000. For copy of a death certificate for 2000, you need to write the Henderson County Courthouse in Lexington, TN. Laws are stricter now, you may have to show PROOF that you are related to the person in order to obtain. re: I am seeking a county Death Index lookup, Please search for sadie Swindle( Cunningham) I am not sure of living or deceased, but check your death index for 1987-2000, Sadie s last residence in Tennessee, was Sardis. if anyone can search, I would be most appreciative, Sadie s mother name was Eva Cunningham
