Hello Fellow Rooters, I have a Pentium II PC. I am searching for the parents and/or siblings of my g-grandfather, Rev./Dr. Jesse Lee (Leonidus?) WOOD who was reportedly b. 1839 in Duck Hill, Carroll (now Montgomery) Co., MS?. He first shows up on the 1860 Census in Dyer Co., TN at age 21 years m. to "M." (WOOD) age 20 years. We have no idea how Jesse got to TN nor any info. about his family or him until he enlisted in Company I of the 7th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, U. S. Army at Huntingdon, Carroll Co., TN on Dec 27, 1863. His 1st wife "M." (Maiden name unknown) was reportedly b. 1840 in TN? and gave birth to a daughter, Anna, in 1860. His wife, M. WOOD supposedly died during the War and should be buried somewhere in the area of Dyer/Haywood/Carroll/etc. Co., TN. Jesse's 2nd wife (m. 1865) was Nancy Evelener HALL, my g-grandmother and the daughter of Perry M. HALL and Margaret E. LETSINGER of Carroll Co., TN. Jesse L. WOOD became a minister with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1868 and was assigned with T. C. CARTER to Pond Creek Church in 1869 (originally in Haywood Co. but which I believe is now in Alamo, Crockett Co.). He reportedly shows up living in Haywood Co. on the 1870 Census with wife Nancy Evelener HALL WOOD, daughter Anna (10 yrs.) and son, Nathaniel Clark WOOD b. 1868. If anyone could do a lookup of this 1870 Census record I would greatly appreciate it. I appreciate any information and am willing to share information with anyone who has a connection.
