Does anyone have any information on Lowry's Landing. Apparently it was one of 3/4 landings when the river boats first came in 1825 (or so). We are told that Riley LOWREY was born in Brownsville (Haywood Cnty) in 1826. His father may have been Joseph LOWREY. Riley married twice and my husband's grandfather Joseph Riley LOWREY was born March 6, 1870 in Brownsville. Is there any connection between this "Lowry's Landing" and Chief George Lowry of the Cherokee nation? anything you have (or might have) would be great to know. Thanks. mary LOWREY mel1@cdc.gov
