    1. [TNHAYWOO-L] Searching for WEBB Vaughn/Vaughan Link
    2. Kelly Russell
    3. VAUGHN/VAUGHAN, Hattie; MO, USA; c.1898 I am looking for my grandmother's parents. Hattie Lee Vaughn/Vaughan was born, 1898 in Missouri. Perhaps because of her very unhappy childhood didn't want to remember or perhaps she truly did not know. The only thing that we have to go on is that my mother and grandmother frequently discussed her early life and she knew very little about her real family. All that I have is what we were able to piece together and is follows. Hattie's mother and infant brother died in 1901 the same day. Her father disappeared after the funeral. Jonas (Junny) Webb took her to Tenn. where Hattie Lee lived with 4 or 5 families, but she was always unhappy so Jonas would find some where else to place her. Finally she was placed with an Aunt, in Jones Station. This Aunt was poor and had many children. The neighbors, Mrs. Laura and Ned Jones wanted a child so she went to live with them in 1905. She was very happy there. The Jones' adopted her in 1906 and petitioned the court to change her name from Vaughn to Jones. Jonas Webb and Albert Webb visited her in Louisiana in 1925 on their way to Texas. Hattie Lee Jones married in 1912 Guy Lawrence Elder, who was a lumberman. They moved to Arkansas after their first child was born, and later they moved to Louisiana. They had several daughters and one son. Guy Elder, died November 1948 and my grandmother, Hattie Lee, died November 1969. She was very positive that Jonas was her uncle. Other information that we have uncovered. I am unsure of the of the relationship of the following until we can prove a link. Soundex for 1910 census Haywood County ED 71 sheet 1 Jonas B. 2. I am Ron Massey, a new subscriber. I am a descendant of William J. BLAKE who lived in Haywood County at least by 1829 through 1834, possibly earlier. This was during the time of his first marriage to Eliza HINCH. My line is from his second marriage to Sarah COLE JOPLING. I would be interested in any information on these families. Thanks, Ron Massey Shreveport, LA
