William Madison "Bill" Trent was married Edna Lathim about 1896, probably in Hancock county because they were living there in 1900 and had been married years, which would have made her about 15/16, depending on which birthdate you believe. There are only Trent children living with them in 1900 and 1910. She died in 1918. In 1920 a Mack Odom is living with him and is listed as a stepson. However, he does not have a new wife and is widowed. When he died his wife had been listed as Edna Lathim, so that was likely his last wife. In the 1910 census they are both listed as having been married only once. So how did Mack Odom get to be Wm. Madison Trent's step son? Edna was a little young to have been married before. According to the 1910 census Bill was married only once. Mack was born in 1897, which would have made him born after Edna Bill were married. Incidentally, Mack is listed in several of Bill and Edna's children's obituaries as a stepbrother. This Mack, I believe, is the one that married Ruth Barker in 1921. Can anyone help me here or point me to someone that I might be able to call to get the answer. I've found that people will seldom speak to strangers, but might if someone gave me a referral. Thank you.
