Sherry Which files could you open so I can send you that you could not open. I have been doing genealogy since 1988 my Aunt Katie Watson got me started. My Dad made a comment to me "Why do you want to do genealogy we came here in one wagon as family and when we left in a wagon we were still family" I got a laugh out of it. It was about 4 years ago that I did a DNA Test as I was stuck on my Johnson lines. I got DNA matches back to researchers of Michael Johnson who died in 1719 on Tuckahoe Creek Henrico Co. Va. Michael Johnson was married to Sarah Watson I started searching around Henrico Co and especially on Tuckahoe Creek. Well low and behold there was 10 families on that creek in 1680 era that I descend from that were still living together to this day on Hurricane Creek in Humphreys Co. Tn. My dad's statement held true. I have since studied the Mountain, Creek or River that my allied families have lived on and have made numerous connections. I then noted that my families that lived on certain creeks or Rivers who were on the North or South Side or East or West side but they were in different Counties or in a different parish. It was then that I realized these Rivers or Creeks that were heavly settled were being used as dividing lines for Counties or Parish's which seem to change like the wind. They were still living by each other but they were in different Counties, some of these creeks one could wade across and be in another county when they went to visit Mom or Dad. That is why in my reported I place parent Counties or Parish for further researching and cross referencing into other files Another thing was when they moved; is to look at when they filed their deeds and record everyone posting a deed that day or with in that 5 days, as this is the people they traveled with to get to new lands that some of their family was already on. This gives you a Travel pattern to check up on. Always check the Parent Counties for deeds on the Creek they settled and note the names and time the first deeds were recorded as some one their sent a letter back to get the family to come and settle by them. I also am the Librarian for the JJJDNA site we have 80 plus researchers sending me documents on Jonson-Jonston-Johnson-Johnston-Johnsen deeds, Wills, anything that mentions a variation of the Johnson surname, and one thing is really standing out is families stayed together, married together and moved as a Clan. This is on the DNA's color coding at the top of ever report. I was working last night on Tn Franklin CO formed from Williamson Co files, so I could not send it. James Shropshire of Franklin Co Tn is the son of Winkfield Shropshire who died 1816, WInkfied Shropshire is the son of Winkfield Shropshire who died 1798 in Oglethrope Co Ga. This line of Shropshire's attended the Matrimony Baptist Church which lands fell into Rockingham Co NC when it formed. They are first found in what is called the Salisbury Dist. of NC I can not get a time era of when the Shropshire and Allied families arrived there, but they owned lands on Buffalo Creek in what becomes Rockingham NC and this Buffalo Creek flows right out of what was Henry County Va in 1776-1780 where my Hudson Johnson lived father of Mary Polly Johnson married to Joel Shropshire. Joel Shropshire is Seymour or Semair Shropshire the brother of Winkfield Shropshire who died in Oglethorpe Co. Ga. Samier Shropshire went back to Rockfish River with Jane Murrell. That again is a length file as they settled by kinsman there and intermarried again. It is almost as if you lived during their time, you really make our ancestors come to life!!! John Slaughter married Matilda Murrell d/o Benjamin Murrell in Limestone Co AL (I think they married there, I am speaking from memory, which is not as good as it once was, smiles) They all moved to Weakley Co TN and my greatgrandfather John Franklin Melton married the daughter of James W Slaughter s/o John Slaughter and Matilda Murrell. She was Frances Ann Slaughter. James W Slaughter's wife was Caroline Clemons d/o Charles Clemons born VA but came up from Limestone Co also. His wife was Mary Daughterty born Hawkins Co TN as per a write up in Goodspeed's on Weakley Co. Are any of these other familes in your database??? Sherry
