My ancestor John Hubbard Sr, his son Jesse Hubbard and John Weddle all owned neighboring land on Shelby's Creek in Hawkins County in the early 1800's. There were many marriages between the Hubbards and the Weddles. I believe the land on Shelby's Creek may be just barely into Hancock County today. Below are abstracts of the deeds involved: Hawkins County, Tennessee Land Deeds Deed Book 4, pages 128 & 129: Conveyance: Jno Helsley to Jno Hubbard Registered 20 February 1806, 30 September 1805 - Indenture between John Helsley of Hawkins Co. and JOHN HUBBARD of Hawkins Co., for the sum of $100, a certain tract of land containing 118 acres lying in the County of Hawkins on Shelby's Creek, the waters of Clinch, south side of Copper Ridge. Signed: John Hubbard {Seal} Witnesses: Moses Williams, RICHARD (X) MEDLOCK witnessed. Teste: S.D. Mitchell, Clk --- This area was also very close to the Virginia state line, and some of the Hubbards & Weddles at various times lived just across the state line in VA, and are also found in Lee and Scott Co., VA records. Here's my question: I'm looking for any cemeteries near the Shelby's Creek area where Jesse Hubbard might be buried. I have not found any record of his burial place. He died about Nov. 1815 just a few months after he returned to Hawkins county from the War of 1812. I don't know if he died of injuries or if he became ill after his service. If anyone can steer me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it! Diane
