Michael SHANKS-1 birth between 1745 - 1750 in Lancaster, PA., during RW he lived in Greenbriar, VA (Rockingham) an area which is now WV. (DAR#530031, #559408) Not sure what these numbers mean. He died on 06 Jun 1836 in Hawkins County, TN. He married Elizabeth MILLER. She was born about 1755. She is the daughter of John Miller. Notes for Michael SHANKS: Burial is near Shanks Cabin an area known as Choptack, TN. Children of Michael SHANKS and Elizabeth MILLER are: i. John SHANKS, B: 1776, D: 1855. ii. Christian SHANKS, B: 11 Oct 1783 in Greenbriar, VA, D: 16 Dec 1858 in Hawkins County, TN. iii. Adam SHANKS, B: 1785. iv. Nancy SHANKS, B: 1786, D: 1851. Michael and Elizabeth Shanks came to Hawkins Co. about 1803 from Greenbriar. Deed Book 82, & Deed Book 3, pg 83. His father is believed to be John Schenk b. 1721 PA a Mennonite minister, he married Mary Moyer dau. Of Hans Moyer. Abstract of Michael's will dated: 5/16/1833: My wife Elizabeth the use of the lease of tract or parcel of land that I got from Absolom Kyle and James P. McCarthy. At my wife's death land to be sold and divided among my sons and daughters. My son Christian Shanks to be my executor. My line: 1.Michael Shanks b. abt 1750 PA d. 1836 Hawkins Co., TN 2.Christian Shanks b. 1793 Greenbriar, VA d. 1858 Hawkins Co., TN 3.Catherine Shanks b. 1816-1877 Choptack, TN m. Emma Caroline Williams d.1930 Seattle, WA 6.Lucile Corrine Williams b. 1893 Choptack, TN m.
