In studying the children of Samuel and Mary Wilson you will note that there are children named Mary and Samuel - after his parents and William and Eleanor - after her parents. I have often wondered about the children named: Willie Bount Wilson. There was a Willie Bount (from memory now) who was governor of Tennessee for a while. Both Stokely Donaldson Mitchell and Richard Mitchell were clerks and their names appear at the ends of a lot of court records in Hawkins Co., TN. Andrew Jackson was just starting his "career". My question has been - why did these people make such an impression that they named children after them? I have speculated that perhaps the Eleanor who married William of Caney Creek was a Mitchell.
