Since these folks tended to marry cousins and corresponding inlaws it is a distinct possibility. We know from a pension file that William Lawson was the cousin of Curren Lawson, son of Banks Lawson. Mary Murrell's nephews and nieces married into the Banks Lawson family. The are many cases where someone was alternately Eliza, Elizabeth, and Lizzie. On the other hand, we do have families such as Banks Lawson where there is both an Eliza and Elizabeth in the family. As far as I know there is no evidence one way or the other.
