Can anyone on the list tell me why so many families left Hawkins county, TN and went to IN? Seems many did same. Still searching for SAR members wherever they went. The genealogy of this family and many other Winingers(Spell the name how you may!) and also of Jones, Pace etc. families are outlined on this Web Page by Robert Casey. http://www.rcasey.net/wininger/winstart.htm. If you have information that ties to these families, I'm postive Mr. Casey would welcome your input. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The Government was opening land offices to distribute the lands of the Northwest Territory, and the Louisiana Purchase. Usually 160 acre parcels by cash sale or to Veterans by Grant. This encouraged populations to fill the area and created the base for government and management of the lands. Jeff (Three USGenWeb counties in Indiana) -- Jeffery G.
