There are 23 seperate Collins households in Hawkins Co. at this time. 17 of which are listed as non-white. (melungeon families) The ones listed as white are on pg. 52 which are James (sr), James (jr) , and William and also on pg. 59. George and Tandy. These are the family members of Sarah Ann Collins Anderson. So one might assume these families were not considered as melungeons. On page 77 the family of Martin Collins also had white members but I don't know if the entire household was considered white by the census taker. I don't have access to all columns of the census page. In the 1840 census all Collins families were listed as white except for a Nancy Collins on pg. 192.
