Surnames: Lawson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XeB.2ACE/3339.1.1.2 Message Board Post: There were not very many Clems in Hawkins County. Banks Lawson had one in 1850, and the other one in 1850 living next to Banks may have belonged to Hennis Lawson. There is every reason to believe that Banks and Hennis Lawson were likely brothers--their children are stated in a pension file to be cousins. Banks and Hennis could have some association with the Clement Lawson who moved to Indiana before 1830. Clement was mentioned in a deed as previously owning the property in a transaction involving the Trents. This property was located near the property of Alexander Trent--which fits with the 1850 District 2 location of Banks Lawson. Burrell Lawson appears to have gone to Indiana along with Clement Lawson. A John Lawson, Lacey Lawson and Washington Lawson lived next to Burrell Lawson in District 2 before 1830 and also went to Indiana along with Clement Lawson. So, it is reasonable to think that this was a family group. From the information in a variety of documents, Alem appears to be a son of Thomas Lawson Sr, along with Peter Lawson, Meredith Lawson, Richard Lawson, John Jackson Lawson and Thomas Lawson Jr. There are also some records involving Anderson Lawson which suggest that Clement Lawson Sr and Thomas Lawson Sr were closely related. Thomas Lawson Sr was found in Hawkins County from about 1814 onward.
