Surnames: Marshall Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XeB.2ACE/2086.4.1.2 Message Board Post: Brenda, In 1850, Thomas and Lucinda Marshall of Hawkins County, TN are shown with the following children: Rutledge, age 16 Houston, 14 Tipton, 12 Anna , 10 Joseph, 8 Also a William Marshall, age 59 is living in the household (probably Thomas' brother) In the 1840, Hawkins Co., Census, this family looks like this: Thomas Marshall 2 males under 5 (Houston & Tipton probably) 2 males 5 to 10 (one of these is probably Rutledge) 1 male 10 to 15 2 males 15 to 20 1 males 40 to 50 (Thomas) 1 female under 5 (Anna) 1 female 5 to 10 1 female 15 to 20 1 female 30 to 40 (Lucinda) Do you know the names of the older three sons? The names this family used make me keep coming back to them. My Andrew J. Marshall named his sons: Thomas William George James Elbert John I also noticed that Thomas and Lucinda Marshall lived near several of the Smith families in Hawkins County. Two of James Marshall's sons married Smith girls from Hancock County; and one of his sons married a cousin to the Smith girls. The family said that they (the Marshall boys) were visiting relatives in Rogersville when they met their wives. If I can identify Thomas and Lucinda's older sons, maybe I can exclude or conclude based on that information. Thank you, Lillie
