Lawson, Winny, Died. Four miles north of Rogersville, Hw. Co. Tn. on the 26th day of May 1892. Mrs. Winnah Winstead, wife of Jacob H. Winstead, in her 67th year. Mrs. Winstead was daughter of Preston Lawson, and was born in the State of Georgia in the year 1825. Her father moved to Hawkins County in the year 1831. She joined the M.E. Church near Big Creek at the age of 14 years, and remained a member in good standing until the year 1866, when she joined the Baptist Church, of which she remained a faithful member until the day of her death. She often talked to her grandson, who watched around her bedside, and exhorted him to be a Christian and meet her in Heaven. Mrs, Winstead was a good woman, a kind neighbor and Mother, and a true wife. The family. This obit has cause me much labor and looking and still have not got past Preston. The 1850 census dist 15, show him as born in NC.
