I have never belived that Preston Lawson was a son of William Lawson. I look everyday hoping to find something that will help me and others as I work the loose papers here. Preston Lawson does not appear to be a land owner. He lived on a 250 acre tract of land that was owned by Thomas Harmon, Thomas Harmon died in Monroe Co. Many of these old families seem to have moved to Monroe co. early. There was a old Peter Lawson here in the records, He has moved to Monroe Co.but I think some of his children stayed here. These Lawsons, Manis, and Jones south of the Holston river are just as hard to work as the ones north of the Clinch.. Maybe some of the loose records will be enlighting as we move along. PC
