Then, Clem Lawson sued Reuben Mabe in 1837 over a debt owed by/to Mary Mabe. This has got to be the same Mary. Reuben was also accused of bastardy in 1837 by Eliza (Elizabeth?) Goodman. I believe that James Willis was the prosecutor, but Reuben Mabe was acquitted. I wonder if Reuben Mabe was married to Mary in 1837, divorced, and then married Sarah and Clem married Mary? Another possibility is that Mary was the stepdaughter of Reuben Mabe.
