    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: pjcboy23 Surnames: Ferrell, Farrell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.hawkins/9350/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The following article from the Green Jones war mentions a H.F. Ferrell. Does anyone know who this is. I believe I recall Alice Manis Jones telling me that a Harvey Ferrell died in the Greene/Jones War, but I could be wrong. If so, I am thinking this would be Harvey son of Jackson and Margaret. Any help would be appreciated!! Ronny Ferrell [email protected] Rogersville Herald June 9, 1888 News From Camilla On the 2nd inst. the Jones party, nine or ten in number, surrounded Mr. Hamp Greene's house. About the dawn of the day the Greene's discovered the Jones party and sending their wives and children out, both parties began firing at about the same time, supposed to have been about 300 shots fired in succession on both sides, several shot through the clothes but none seriously wounded but one just above the hips and died last Tuesday. The Sheriff of Hancock County, George Wilburn and James Brooks and others, thirty-six in number came to arrest the Jones's crowd, but all had absconded but one, H.F. Ferrell, they took him to Sneedville jail to lay over until court. Think if we had such men as Sheriff Drinnon, Brooks and Milburn, we would have better times, which if ever needed it is now. H.F. Ferrell is a relative of this writer and why he didn't hightail it with the rest of them is beyond comprehension. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
